Shopaholic reviews?

I wondered what people thought of the movie?  I read some of the books and while I mostly enjoyed them she made me really tense!  I may like to shop but I do it within my means and she just stressed me out to the point where I could feel my blood pressure rising.  I also can't stand the whole ditzy, Jessica Simpson, Paris Hilton thing and I feel like she's more like that in the movie.  However I'd love to see the clothes and Isla Fisher is adorable.  So is it worth seeing or will I be clutching my popcorn and muttering under my breath about what a poor image of women she's projecting?

I've read all the books, and have held off on seeing the movie.  From what I read about it, they've completely changed the story.  I don't think I will like it at all.....

I will eventually break down and go see it, but I know I'll be disappointed.  I was somewhat disappointed in The Devil Wears Prada and The Nanny Diaries too.

My Thoughts exactly!  I am scared to see it because I do adore the books (it is nice to live through someone else's shopping problems) but the trailers I have seen are nothing like the books.  I might go see it next weekend since I have a movie gc but I don't think I'd pay to see the movie - rather just wait for netflix.

I just saw it tonight and the soundtrack was hilarious! I laughed at all the inappropriate moments because the music was so damn funny.

If you take the movie with a grain of salt, it's pretty entertaining and enjoyable. I read the books a long time ago, so I can't really remember all the details but I do remember being stressed out when I read the first book (maybe too close too home?). But the movie wasn't like that at all. It also wasn't as cool, shopping-wise, as the first book was.

But if you're looking for a fun, girls' movie, it'll do the trick.

I went with my friend on Tuesday. I was a big fan of the books (although I agree, she made me tense when reading some parts) and my gf has not read them

I hated the movie. Hated it. It was not even remotely close to the book. At all. I couldn't even begin to describe all the things wrong with it. It would take me pages and pages.

My gf didn't like it either and thought the story seemend too predictable and some parts too random.

The thing I hated most was her outfits- she looked like a muppet. Too briht colors, feathers, fur, ruffles, too much, too extreme. In the book she has class and taste, in the movie she looks demented. Nothing like the fashion montages in Devil Wears Prada.

I like Ilsa Fisher and thought that this movie didn't do her justice and was a huge disappointment.

I haven't seen it and I haven't read the book. But I know that I want to see it.

And I also know, that after reading this post I now want some popcorn :)

I had a bad feeling this was what I was going to hear. :(

I read all the books years ago and I loved them, I was saving this movie to see with a good friend but I kinda already knew it would prob suck compared to the books!

I was worried this would be the case when I read about Patricia's Field's involvement.  I mean I love Carrie Bradshaw but didn't really see Shopaholic wearing similar outfits.  I think I'm going to wait for the DVD.  Thanks all!

I saw it the other night and I didn't like it.  I did not like the screenplay.  The book was much better.  The movie just seemed to be thrown together at the last minute.  The flow was just off.  She didn't say so, but I could tell that my friend (who hasn't read the books) was disappointed as well.  The movie had so much potential!  =(

As soon as the previews came on for this movie, I knew it wasn't going to live up to my expectations.  ALL the previews were for some Disney/Family movie.  The movie ended up being pure fluff, and not in a good way.  It all seemed very cartoony to me.  AND I didn't even like the clothing choices.  Way too over the top.

I haven't read the book so I didn't have anything to compare it to, but I also was kind of dissapointed with it. I thought it could have been better, it was still entertaining though if you have nothing else to do!

Ok, I guess I'm in the minority but I thought it was adorable. I read the books a while ago, but I didn't go into the theatre expecting the movie to be anything like them (I never do because if I did, I'd always be disappointed). My BF took me to see it on Valentine's Day, and he actually laughed through a lot of it. I enjoyed it for what it was... pure fluff. It made me smile.

Ok so I had a day off from work and a free movie ticket so I went to see this movie. I thought it was a cute movie but not very close to the book. It actually was pieces of book one and two thrown together and I could tell when they were trying to tie into the book - it was subtle but there. None of the characters were how I imagined them to look or be if that makes sense. The worst offenders where Suze and Becky's parents. I cringed when her parents were on the screen. Parts of the storyline seemed really slapped together with no real lead in from the movie. I also agree I was disappointed in the clothing choices. Not how I would picture Becky at all.

I would give it 3 stars out of 5 and maybe rent it to watch again but definitely not one to add to the dvd collection. I thought it could be much better and at the same time it could have been worse but luckily it wasn't.
