How long before this goes on sale?

I'm hopelessly in love with a dress that I saw at Lord and Taylor on January 2nd.  It's available at Bergdorf and Neiman Marcus too so I'm trying to stalk it in person and online.  Does anyone know about how long most department stores leave things out for before putting them on sale?

What dress was it?  Do you know the season?  If it's a resort dress (shipped in october or november usually)- markdowns are probably already in the works.  Maybe march or april at the latest.  If it is a spring dress (shipped in january or february usually)- probably won't be marked down til May or June, though who knows with the economy!  I know Saks got in a lot of shit for marking down things too early (and basically just giving clothes away), so I'm curious to see what sales will be like this season.  Also- those sites sometimes do one day 30% off type secret sales.

It's a Shoshanna dress and it's maddening because her website has galleries of Resort and Spring 2009 and I don't see the dress in either one!
I think it must be Spring though.

It's also on Revolve but they don't have it in my size so I guess I'll try to hold out and wait for a sale elsewhere.
