Any Moby fans out there? I just wanted to post a review of his new CD "Hotel." My hubby and I preordered it and I've been listening to Disk 1 nonstop since we rec'd it last week. I love it! It's an excellent CD and Moby fans will definitely get into it quickly. I have only listened to disc 1; I hear disk 2 is a lot more mellow, i.e. more dinner music. Disc 1 is excellent though. One major difference b/w this new cd and his previous albums are that he does most of the vocals himself. My favorites on CD 1 are "Raining Again," "Lift Me Up" and "Spiders." It's difficult to choose, there are so many good songs on that album. There is another song called "Beautiful" which is supposedly a parody of Nick and Jessica's relationship. Also, there are some songs that are soft and mellow, but beautiful, such as "Where You End" and a (slower) cover of New Order's "Temptation" (I like the New Order version better but this one is pretty). Just thought I'd share! Hope this helps someone.
Thanks so much - i like moby, but my husband does "computer music" (or that's what i call it) & he LOVES moby. So i'll have to get this for him as a surprise.

I got it on Tues and have been listening to it a lot since then. I've only listened to disk one, so far. Based on what I've heard, though, I'm not all that impressed. Sure, some of the melodies are cool, but Moby is no singer and this album proves that. He should go back to sampling others' vocals. Additionally, he's a lousy lyricist. Most of the songs on disk one have really banal and obvious rhymes. Songs like "I Like It" are completely lame -- it's almost 4 minutes of people who are obviously having sex telling each other "I like it". Its aural porn, and just as boring as the visual type, too.
I'm ultimately disappointed. I like 18 and Play, and I think he does good/important/innovative things with pop music, but disk one of Hotel disappoints. Maybe I'll like disk two better -- it doesn't have any lyrics.
