This site has some of the articles and photo spreads.

Oh my god, I still remember this part from the interview with Tiffani Amber-Thiessen and I think about it every time her name comes up:
She says she likes a lot of Shakespeare's lesser-known works. Like what? "Like Hamlet," she proclaims excitedly. Oh, I hadn't heard of that one.
I also remember the nasty letter that her PR person wrote in respone.
I'm such a dork.

I wish they had the Joey Lawrence article. That was hilarious.

And I remember really liking this fashion spread

I bet my mom threw out all my old issues. Even the Kurt and Courtney one. Sniff sniff.

oh how i miss sassy... i remember getting in trouble for bringing it to school in 8th grade. i went to a religious school and the issue i brought had an article on girls who practice. after that we weren't allowed to bring magazines to school.

was there ever any official explanation to what happened to it? i just remember it stopped coming in the mail even though my subscription hadn't run out.

also i remember really wanting to be in one of the reader produced issues. i loved those! now i'm getting all nostalgic for my youth.

I think they combined with Teen magazine? I know they merged with someone, so Sassy by itself ceased to exist. I remember buying it and feeling like maybe I shouldn't have been reading some of the articles in there because they talked about, shhhhhh, sex

awww Sassy!  I was a little too young when this magazine was out, but i had some of the later ones (1993, 1994).  CC- that article on tiffani amber theisen is really hilarious/mean!  I almost can't believe they printed that.

It was sort of a slow death. I think first Jane Pratt left to do her talk show thing and was editor in name-only for a while. Then the owner decided to sell it because he was losing money like crazy and the magazine that owns Teen bought it at the end of 1994, fired the entire staff and put out a totally different version of the magazine for maybe a year before they finally gave up.

Oh actually if you look on that site under "Feature Story Alert" the very last article is one that was in Bust last year and is a history of the magazine.

oh man I miss the 90's!  I now remember being at the end of 8th grade and so excited for Tulsa, Oklahoma (my hometown) in 1990 because Amber Valletta was on the June cover.  She was from Tulsa, yep, and we didn't know her, but my friends and I totally worshipped her.  I am glad her modeling career took off!

I am sure you all know this, but Sassy is still around.  It is just called Jane now.  They said that they changed the name to grow with their readers.

i was just thinking about sassy this weekend when my mom informed me that she wanted to get rid of my massive collection of teeny mags (mostly sassy and seventeen) from the late 80s/early 90s. i got all excited for my next trip to CT to go through all of them!

i have tried to get into jane, knowing that it is the "evolution," if you will, of sassy, but it just isn't the same at all. i'm sure that the fabulousness that was sassy had a lot to do with how old we were at the time and how great a fit it was for that stage of our lives.

i spent a bit of time on that website this morning and i got such a kick out of looking at each of the issues and seeing who they had chosen as that month's "one to watch" - so many of those people went on to have great careers (and some... not so much).

sigh, fond memories of adolescence!

I think the editor at Lucky(lost on her name) and Andrea Linnett worked at Sassy too.

I re-read the article on Kurtney yesterday and it made me so nostalgic and sad!! If only it'd been me and not Courtney I bet I could have saved him... Okay, that's so pathetic I can't help but laugh but that's what I was thinking when I read the article! I've always sorta hated Courtney for getting to be with/in the way of Kurt. I was always suspicious of her. But then, I've loved Kurt since I can remember so that might have something to do with it... And Hole DOES rock - sometimes.

Anyway, thanks for the link so I could have this inner monologue (above) - not so inner anymore - and revisit my youth. Sassy ruled!

And Smash, I agree - Jane just isn't the same. It's aiight but def. not as cool.

That is so cool that so many people on this forum read Sassy.  This was the only teen magazine I could swallow.  I hated YM and Seventeen.  Thanks for the link cc, it brings back so many memories.
