are any of you doing a slideshow during the reception dinner with pictures of you both growing up and then together? if so, how and when are you doing yours?
my BF and i have picked out a ring and set a date, but i am not "officially" engaged yet. So i figured an easy thing for me to do (because I am FREAKING OUT over the short time frame) would be start working on our slideshow so that it is done already.
I am in the same boat as you. I've never seen a slide show at a wedding. I have seen an area where they have lots of small picture frames (silver) with candid pics of the couple and some of them growing up so that is what I am going to do. I've actually started to take more pics of me and my bf since we really started talking about this and picked a ring and a tentative date.
I have been to a wedding with a slideshow. I was quite close to these people and I found it kind of......I dont know. I dont think it had the intended effect. The pictures in frames seem like a much better idea because the guests can look at their leisure instead of being forced to watch, and laugh in the appropriate places, etc

i still like the slide show idea purely because i am a picture nut and if i had all the ones i wanted in frames i would have about 100 pictures all over the place. plus a lot of them need retouching and cropping, etc. i was thinking instead of forcing everyone to watch during a particular time- that maybe it could continuous run in the entryway during the cocktail hour when we aren't there yet so that the guests have something to "do" while waiting for us to arrive...
I like that idea!! The wedding where I saw the slideshow it was all "OK, now we are going to watch the slideshow". The idea of having it playing and guests can mill around...much better.
We're having one at ours but during the cocktail hour. We're putting in pics of us of course, dating, growing up etc and then we are also asking our relatives for their wedding pics. It's pretty funny looking back and seeing my Aunts in their wedding dresses and my mom was the flower girl. Plus then it's not just pics of us looking like dorks.

oh= that is CUTE! i'm going to steal that idea Collette! Thanks!
And since you think it is OK during the cocktail hour- i'll stick with that idea! oooo this is exciting! now i wish he would give me the ring so i could start putting in my reservation on the places we want to hold it at!
we went to a wedding last year where they had a fantastic slide show during the rehearsal dinner (they invited all out of town guests to that) - the guests loved it! i have never been to a wedding where there was a slide show at the reception, but i think it would be nice for the cocktail hour when the bride and groom are usually off taking photos - definitely a good conversation starter.
by the way, congratulations on your pending engagement! you kind of slipped that in casually...
so excited for you!
