If you are vegetarian or vegan, do you wear leather?  The reason I cut animal products out of my diet was primarily for health reasons (but knowing what happens during animal processing certainly helps me to not touch the stuff.)

I just can't imagine giving up my leather shoes, boots, jackets, and bags!

I'm not either, but my cousin became a vegetarian some years ago, and he still wears anything leather he had bought before he made that decision. He won't buy anything new, but if he already has it, he can't really go give that animal it's skin back, so giving them away wouldn't really help.

While I'm not vegetarian/vegan, I do view leather the same as I view diamonds/gems/jewels, coral, and tortoiseshell. I have problems ethically with all of the above so while I may really love coral, I just don't feel comfortable with the idea of wearing something that is so incredibly precious and of a (relatively) unsustainable object. However, I have no problems with vintage or antique jewelry using coral or diamonds. The same would go for leather items or anything else in that unsustainable category. It's two-fold, I'm reusing an older item and at the same time not using a new item. I'm not creating a need for a market for coral, etc.

Does that make sense? I have a feeling that didn't quite come off very understandable...but I just got a tour of my new office space. It has a window and a private bathroom! My brain is filled with decorating ideas...no space for coherent thoughts.

I don't buy leather. I have a few vintage purses from grandma and a pair of leather boots from a college roommate that I still wear occasionally.

Luckily I'm just not a "purse girl" - I don't drool over the latest and greatest bags and I don't like to spend a lot on them anyway.
