One of my girlfriends is going through the same. She doesn't want to go out at all this weekend. So we are going to spend an evening planning dinner, cooking and eating.

Even if you don't feel like going out, plan something with your friends that would take your mind off your ex.

Thank you everyone. I think I was just so much in shock earlier, I only wanted to get it off my chest. I don't really want to tell all of my friends yet, because he and I have been struggling for a long time, and really fighting to stay together. Everyone has been really pulling for us and has been really supportive. I'm going to hate telling everyone.

Anyway. I think what has happened is just that he isn't sure that he's ready to move to the next step with me, and his uncertainty is coming out in weird little behaviors, nothing all that bad, but we have talked about it enough times that I've just been feeling like him continuing to do these things is really disrespectful, so that was the beginning of it all. And I think I just got to the point where I honestly don't believe that he can be the person that I need him to be at this point in my life. It's really sad, because we do love each other, and we have done everything that we know how to do (talking with counselors, talking to our parents, having weekly conversations to make sure we're on the same page, etc.). I guess it all comes down to when someone doesn't love you enough to change their lifestlye, even if they love you a lot, it isn't always enough. So we did break up this afternoon. And I am sad. But thanks to all of your for your nice posts and for listening to my rambling. Sometimes it's easier to type and be done than to hash it all out with friends for hours on end.

Good for you for knowing what you need and deserve, and for refusing to settle for someone who can't give it to you! That is so brave! Hang in there - breakups suck. But it won't last forever! You've really already done the hard part!
