I eat low fat cheese, like string cheese. I also take supplements because I don't get as much calcium as I should through my diet. I really like the Viactiv chews.
I've been eating guyere and fresh mozzarella cheese and cottage cheese and also taking supplements. There is no way I can eat enough dairy to get my calcium (I'd feel nauseous b/c I'm slightly lactose intolerant) so I use the supplements to get me to where I should be with my calcium intake.

I take 1200 mgs a day by a pill in the morning and a pill at night. Right now I'm taking Caltrate.
Tums are a really good idea though. My great grandmother lived to 104 and took a handful everyday because she had heartburn problems. Her doctor said all that calcium (and regular activity) kept her healthy for so long. Tums also have less calories than Viactic and other candy like calcium sources, I think.
