I can't come up with words to describe how great this movie was. Loved it. It's quite bloody, but it's mostly in the context of professional wrestling (fake but real but fake, you know?). Mickey Rourke's performance doesn't just live up to the hype, it surpasses it.
I wasn't sure I'd like it but we wanted to see a movie and this was playing at our closest theater. I really was blown away! The performances were so real that it sometimes felt like we were watching a documentary. I don't like violence, can't watch boxing at all, but this felt manageable to me.

My husband wanted to see this and I kept putting it off thinking it would be a "guy movie." It popped up at the cheapie theatre so we went to see it tonight and guess the girl who almost had to leave the movie because she was so moved? It brought up a lot of my feelings for my own father and I started crying like a big baby.
The husband and I stopped at a local diner afterwards for greasy salty food and to discuss the movie for a whole hour, which means it was a winner in our household.

Awww, Kincali! Totally, right? Same here......until the projector broke suddenly and the theater lights popped on right in the damn climax!
gah! I actually thought that is what happened at the very end of our movie until the credits started to roll. We've decided that we have to rent Milk to judge if Mickey Rourke got robbed at the Oscars He was so good in that role.
