I bought in jack's new one, "in between dreams" last week, and i have been listening to it over and over, trying to decide what i think.  i loved his last two.  i could listen to them over and over and never get sick of them.  this one i'm not so sure about.  it could be the high expectations i have for it.

as much as i don't want to say this, i'm finding it a little pop-y.  a lot of the songs are about love and not as political as those on his other 2 albums.  for me jack had a leg up on other similar artists like john mayer b/c his songs were profound and made a statement while also being really catchy and unique.  (bubbletoes, f-stop blues, taylor)  but maybe love is just where he is at right now, and i guess there's nothing wrong with that.

i have been told i am way over analyzing this -- so i'm interested to hear what anyone else thinks.

I really love the new Jack Johnson CD - I think every song is great.  It's one of those albums I can play all the way through and not have to skip any songs.  I loved his first album too, but I wasn't that crazy about the 2nd one.  I think this is great!

I have On and On and the new one.  I really loved the lyrics on On and On (wow that's a lot of ons).  The new cd is good but not as emotional I guess.  I like the way the songs sound but maybe the lyrics aren't as meaningful?  It's probably just that I haven't given it a fair chance yet because I'm still in love with the last cd.  I do think most of the songs on In Between Dreams are fairly catchy though...

I love, love, love the song Banana Pancakes - that's mine and my boyfriend's song because he says I'm obsessed w/everything banana!  I'm glad you decided you like it- I think it's really catchy and good.

Have a great time at his concert, I saw him in September and he was awesome.  He played w/G. Love and if you have never heard him, you should check him out.

ahhh, you are so lucky to have seen that show.  i waited to buy tickets last year and, duh, they sold out.  i had no clue how big jack had gotten. my bf and i drove to boston the night of the show thinking we could just pick up some tickets outside and it was crazy -- tons of people looking for tickets and scaplers selling them for $300 each.  i love g.love and that show would have been awesome.

BTW, can you recommend any good g.love albums?  i have philidelphonic, which is great (is rodeo clowns not the best song?) and love to get another good one.

Yes I can recommend some good G. Love albums - All of them!!!  but to start, i would pick up Yeah It's That Easy and his self -titled album - G. Love and Special Sauce is great too.  Oh and his newest album The Hustle rocks too.
