I received a hand written note from Chef Keith Famie (he was on survivor) after my husband and I ate at his restaurant which was kind of cool... but never from a department store - that's excellent customer service, and extra excellent that you wrote back and cc'd her boss! it's that kind of return gesture that makes all the effort in a job worthwhile

I got a thank you note from a make-up counter person there and the personal shopper I use on occasion.

I Nordstroms. It's things like that, that make me go back there, too.

I've only received a hand-written thank you note after eating at Ruth's Chris.. but I'm v. surprised that Nordstrom did that! That's pretty cool.

yes-- happened to me once from Bergdorf's and I was unbelievably impressed too. Good customer service goes sooo far!

Yeah, I have from Neimans, Bloomingdales, Nicole Miller and Kate Spade. I've also gotten them from smaller boutiques in Atlanta and Nashville too. I love receiving those little notes and they often make me a repeat customer.

I had that happen at Max & Co. (the lower-end division of MaxMara). I got a little handwritten note in the mail from one of the girls there saying that she hoped I was enjoying my kitty shirt and she also asked me how I'd done shopping at this place we talked about when I was there. I LOVE all the salesgirls there, they know me by name and start pulling me stuff the second I walk it. Plus one of them will also call me when something new comes in that she thinks I'll like. I love great CS!

I have had the same thing happen from them too. I will usualy buy something from them even if I can find it somewhere else cheaper because they have such great customer service.

That is very cool that you emailed her boss- usually they just get complaints so it is probably nice to hear something good for a change.

I also received a handwritten card from one of the girls at Nordstrom. I too was so impressed that I emailed the manager there and told them that I would surely be shopping in there again. Let me tell you I lived up to my end of the bargain!!

the manager emailed me back and told me how appreciative he was of me taking the time to write the manager of BP and CC him. He said that he will be bringing up her act in their next meeting and my note back to show the others how a simple act can bring big results!

it makes me feel so good to be a part of this and I hope it helps her career at Nordie's. Lots of Nordstrom love from me today!!!! too bad I just bought $300 worth of stuff there this month or i would seriously go back tomorrow and buy more just to show them how much i appreciate it! oh well, i am sure they will see more money from me in the future!

I used to do this for customers when I worked at Talbots and I do it on occassion at the place I work at now as well. It definitely brings people back and you build a client base with it.

I've gotten notes from Neimans, Nordies, BCBG, and local boutiques. I want to say I got one from Saks when they sent me some shoes from their store in Florida. That was totally unexpected from them.
