Micromanaging is the worst! A good manager doesn't micromanage, but is there when you have a question. If you can't trust the people that work for you to do a task, then maybe you should just work 24 hours a day and do everything your self. So annoying! Maybe you can explain to her (or him) that you work better when allowed individual judgment. That you would rather carry out a task on your own and then you can discuss it afterward. Just make it clear that he or she can trust you completely with the position and that you know what you are doing.
I used to have the worst micromanager of a boss. It was at an assistant job when I was in college. He used to dictate e-mails to me that he wanted written (which in itself was stupid) and then I would have to print them out and show him before I could send them. He had to look over everything I did even if I had done it a million times already. He was always at my desk and if I was in the middle of working on something, sometimes he would come over to see what I had done so far and then change the project requirements! I swear, I don't even know how the man had time to manage a successful business with all the micromanaging he did. I always used to think that he just hired me out of loneliness (it was a small business that consisted of just me and him) because he could have really done everything I did himself (I mean, he basically was).
