I'm planning a trip to new york in early may with 1/maybe 2 friends and looking at some hotels at the moment. A couple I've found so far are the Radisson Martinique on Broadway, and the Embassy Suites (in the financial district) - has anyone stayed at either of these? I've been looking on tripadvisor but was wondering if anyone here has had any experiences with them. Any other recommendations would be great, but not too expensive.
trip advisor is great for finding lodging, so that's a great place to start. I don't think I've stayed in either of those hotels, so I can't review.
another suggestion is the excelsior hotel adjacent to the Natural Science Museum and Central park. There is also a subway stop at the corner, so it's easy to get anywhere. It was reasonably priced when I stayed there, but that was a while back. I'm curious what the trip advisor write ups are...

Thanks! x
I think the Broadway location would probably better than the financial district so I'd just do an Expedia search around there
we stayed at "on the ave" hotel a few months ago. Its was really nice and a very good price. Its on the upper west side a few blocks from the natural history museum.
Just a reminder about one feature on the TripAdvisor site...
The "Average Price" box on each hotel's main screen usually contains a misleading dollar amount. If you see a hotel that interests you, always click the price reports from Travelocity, Orbitz, Hotels.com, etc. I have noticed that the prices shown on the main page are often different (by a fair amount) from the prices that appear on the associated travel booking sites.
thanks, D! just had a look - it looks great but unfortunately too expensive :(

Yeah, I think they fixed up the rooms and raised the prices since I was there. But they do have multi-bed rooms that work well for a group.
ditto pollyjean - I only deal directly with the hotel for rate information and booking, and I always bring documentation and receipts with me on the trip.
