So I need a travel agent to help plan a trip in March. I've heard horror stories about travel agencies taking your money and not doing anything. How do you go about finding a reputable one. Chicago girls, have you used one in the city that you would recommend? TIA!

Honey, I can help you plan your trip for no charge. I'm serious. Travel agents only book what is in their best monetary interest and not what is the best deal or best choice for you. I plan a lot of trips, and could probably help you save a lot of money...

what immediately comes to mind is St. John, Old San Juan Puerto Rico, and Costa Rica...
Haven't been to any of them, but those are my top pics for close, warm, destinations. St. John is especially appealing as there's a national park there and a lot to see and do besides laying in the sun and drinking (which I thoroughly enjoy as well, but I like hiking and history in addition )
are you friends with Taru on facebook? she has some pics from a recent trip to PR...

Collette- I'm going to the Dominican Republic in late March for my honeymoon. They have several all inclusive options. We also looked into St Lucia which is another great place with all inclusive options.
The problem with a lot of the smaller islands in the caribbean is that they don't have all inclusive.
Not on the caribbean side, but Cabo has a ton of all inclusive options.
I haven't ever used this website, but a friend recommended it to me: http://www.cheapcaribbean.com/
You might play around on there and see what options come up in your price range and then find out more about that island/area.

I did an all-inclusive to Cabo San Lucas the first week of April last year and it was awesome! I have pictures on FB if you want to check them out. What I liked most about it is you could make it as exciting or chill as you wanted, and the all-inclusive option was definitely the way to go. Cabo is scenic, pretty affordable and IMO classier than some other Mexican beaches. There were also plenty of direct flights from Chicago (we flew AA). We went out dancing a couple of nights but also spent a lot of time on the beach chilling, and it was never too crowded. We scored a beachside cabana every day. I agree with D, book everything yourself and you'll save yourself some $.
