Ok, how adorable is SJP in her new GAP commercial?! I couldn't get those khakis out of my head. I ventured to the GAP this weekend - please keep in mind that I haven't made a purchase at the GAP since I was in high school. I asked the SA which pants SJP had on in her new ad. She showed me these:
They must be THE most awful material in the world. They are very thick and cheap feeling. I don't get it. What am I doing wrong? I know I am nowhere as cute as SJP, but when I tried these pants on I felt nowhere near SJP....Were these the right pants? Does the GAP hate me?
Well keep in mind on camera the material of the pants doesn't come across very well. Plus in the ad she had the whole outfit, and everything is more glamorous on tv.
the clothes are made to fit her body perfectly (I don't know if they pin it, tape it or actually tailor it) and the right lighting can work miracles. This probably explains why also that pink blouse looks so good on her and so frumpy and blah on the model on the website.

I am so disappointed to hear that about the material of those pants. I was planning on trying them on when I go shopping next week. In the picture they look lightweight and flowing.

I agree - that is why I am starting to think that the SA pointed me towards the wrong pants. But I searched the store up and down and did not find the flowing gorgeous pants that SJP was wearing. I think it is a conspiracy. The GAP hates me. I have not been able to find anything in that store that I like!

You are exactly right! The material was very similar to a polo shirt. It was almost canvas-like. VERY unflattering. AND, to top it off the material attracted random strings and fuzz and stuff. I could never imagine wearing those pants anywhere - everytime you sat down your butt would be covered in lint.

I never go shopping at the Gap. The cute stuff in their advertising is never the same in the store. I definitely got fooled into it in the past though. To me, all the stuff in the store is boring and not cute at all (for the most part. Other people seem to find cute stuff there, but not me). I get so bored when I go shopping with other people and they want to go in there. Nothing is nice or special in any way. I don't let the advertising fool me anymore. It is really a crappy store.
I definitely agree with the others that the clothes SJP wears in the ads are made specially for the ads and for her with better fabric and tailoring. They should just sell that stuff and charge a few extra bucks. Or maybe they can run a higher-end line like Guess and Abercrombie did and sell the stuff in the ads there.
Those pants are actually very flattering on me and I didn't mind the material. I mean you get what you pay for so I thought they were over all a good deal. I guess things work differently for different body styles. But I don't think those are the ones pictured in the ad. The ad states that they are the Ultra Low Rise Khakis which aren't the ones you have posted. As far as the shirt goes she was wearing in the ad, it looked really cheap to me in person. More the quality of Old Navy rather then the Gap. But everyone has different opinions. Sorry you had such bad luck!
