Let me just climb on my little crate so I can go on a little rant here. My SO and I are in total agreement so maybe others agree too...
Exactly how many plots does DHW's have and when are they going to resolve any of them?
Let's see what I can recall. Ok, we have Gabriella's MIL, who should be in the hospital and knows of Gabrielle's affair with a minor. We also have that subplot which is that Bree's son ran the MIL over with his car - what, did that get swept under the rug, no problem? How about the most obvious one, the "I know what you did and it makes me sick letter?" What exactly was she talking about? And does anyone care she (the one who wrote the letter) is dead? And how stupid is the plot that.... what's her name? The single lady with the teenage daughter who is dating Mike? Sure, any sane woman would say she trusts a man who just moved into town (by himself), and has been proven to have a criminal record, but she "knows" he didn't do anything? Right! Normal women would run for the hills. And why is Mike there anyway? What's the deal with "the woman" he is looking for info on? And I find it equally stupid that that poor blonde woman's kids are supposedly neighborhood theives. That was the dumbest thing I may have seen when they coincidently turned up with the goods dude planted at Mike's house. Then there is the Edie plot which is so boring I can't even remeber it, I just know there was something. We saw a seen with dude digging up his pool, then the trunk was found with an adult's remains, and don't forget dude's son killed his baby sister. Every episode you think just maybe they will get somewhere, but THEY DON'T. This whole thing is so sordid and soap opera-ish, and frankly I am sick of it.
Furhtermore, they always go on some kind of hiatis. When was the last episode? I can't even remember but I heard the next one isn't until 3/27.
I just want to add one more thing. I know noone enjoyed North Shore here but me, but let me just tell you North Shore was a lot like DHW's in the sense that they went from one plot to the next dropping plots at their convienence, and they were both very soap opera-ish. They cancelled North Shore. But everyone is going gaga over DHW's. I just don't get it. I tried to like it, and at first I did, but now I am just sick of it all. I will continue to watch, but only to continue to find out what the big hype is.
I am getting frustrated in the sense that it seems like they are just piling on more events that they needs to solve. I have no idea what is going on with the whole Mike thing I am so confused. And I even forgot that they found the trunk in the water. They have to much stuff going on and they need to start solving some things.
if you think of it- when they figure out the murder of the main character who narrates- the show is over. so they have to keep running these other sub-plots until the show gets the plug pulled and even then they will probably not "solve" the mystery because the shows will already be produced...
i agree, there is way too much stuff going on that has seemed to be completely forgotten by all involved. in fact, whenever they show scenes of mike doing "sordid" stuff (not when he's w/ susan, i think they r cute together) i don't even pay attention. i don't want to confuse myself.

I have to disagree. Twin Peaks (one of my favorite shows of all time) ran for quite a while after we found out who killed Laura Palmer. They could easily solve that stuff and move on to something else.

farrah- i'm in complete agreement with you...i loved twin peaks and north shore (i loved the clothing on there, especially). the twin peaks dvd set was a great christmas gift for me this year! as for desparate housewives...their one show every third week is freaking annoying.

really? i just feel like that she is such an integral part of the cast even though she isn't really there... so if they solve the murder and she has no reason to narrate any more....
i never watched twin peaks- did the person who died on that show narrate it too?
however, considering DH is never on anymore- i am considering dropping it! it is just too ridiculous to wait and wait and wait for it.
1. multiple plot lines - enough already with each week having a cliff hanger and the last weeks never solved. i usually hate this hacknyed phrase but in this instance it works. I NEED CLOSURE. i love this show but i have to keep a running list of all the things that happen. v. frustrating. and whoever said that the plot line with mike is silly and i don't watch it. . .i totally second it. they still haven't told us what the hell he is in town for and by now we need to have some sort of clue. i mean jeesh he's been shot, fallen in love, accused of theft, and etc and we have no idea why he moved to wisteria lane.
2. each week i excitedly announce to my husband between 9-10pm the big tv in the living room is mine for desperate housewives. each week he ends up watching his show because d.housewives has been pre-empted. ARGH. where and when will this show FINALLY be back on the air.
3. north shore sucked because i just wasn't moved by the charecters. and the main chick with the big gummy smile couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. who cares about the girl with the tee-shirt line she was trying to get off the ground. who cared about most of the charecters. they were just annoying and couldnt' act and they had WAY to many storylines going. that being said at the very least north shore would come on on a regular basis. d.housewives could learn from that.

No, there wasn't a narrator. The whole show was based around Laura Palmer though. She was the town sweetheart, the Homecoming Queen. When her naked body washed up on shore people couldn't believe it. The whole show was about solving her murder at first.
Once the murder was solved it opened up a whole Pandora's Box of events that made up the rest of the show. It was fantastic...I miss it.
