Out of all your roommates, did you ever actually like any of them? Or where they all annoying and weird?

i've had pretty good luck with roommates- sure, everyone has their quirks, but i have never HATED a roommate.  i think i'm pretty laid-back though and can get along with most people and make the best out of a situation.  no real horror stories- sorry for the boring response!

never hated a roommate.

I did have issues with one though, she was a third roomie.  She didn't share her groceries and the other roomie and I did, this was fine, but occasionally she would buy cases of Dr. Pepper and said it was ok if I drank one or two.  Well, she expected me to buy her a case just because I drank literally TWO cans of her Dr. Peppers.  She was such a bitch about telling me to take turns and buy another case for her, that even though a case of Dr. Pepper is cheap, I only gave her a couple dollars because I didn't feel responsible for buying a whole case.   she yelled at me!  I laughed and ignored her.  She moved out not long after that with a guy friend of ours and interestingly, he had almost the exact same argument with her.

I have had three roommates. MY current one is my SO, which of course I like, but his slobbiness is very annoying at times. Other than that I have had one roommate from hell, and another roommate that was great.

i've had good and bad roommates, but i lived with my best friend for like 6-7 years altogether, so i would say that the good outweighs the bad.  i live by myself now and LOVED it at first, but now the novelty is wearing off and i'm starting to feel a bit lonely (it has been a year).

i had five crazy roommates last year (my senior year in college).  i had the girl who was married to her boyfriend (paid rent for a year slept in her bed at the house ONCE).  the study freak who was naive, but started to date a 33 year old (her manager...so that was interesting).  her parents are very strict and i don't think they enjoyed that too much.  the crack-head lesbian (informed us in may) i love her so much.  she would throw sex in the city/ wine binges/ dance parties all the time.  the drama queen.  constantly crying, freaking out, but also miss school spirit (none of the rest of us went to school events), and finally me....perfect in every way.

i feel like you could not a scripted a more diverse group of people.  we called our house the house of insanity for obvious reasons.

haha, shopgirl, urs made me laugh!  the only "pefect" roomate i had was one i was paired w/ randomly because my roomate at the time (freshman yr college) started dating my ex who i still cared about & decided to move out so she could get it on w/ him w/o feeling bad i'm in the next bed.  she moved in w/ someone she knew so i got the leftover girl who turned out fab!  the next semester i lived w/ a friend who turned out to be super clingy & jealous & got pissed i didn't want to live w/ her after that.  then i lived w/ my cousin for about 2.5 years which had more downs than ups & now i live alone for almost a year now (hey bumblebee!) & i LOVE it!!  i'm so happy & don't miss having a roomie at all.  also helps tho that my cousin still lives in the same building so we can see eachother any time & my BF stays w/ me every weekend.  i will never have another roomate again till i get married!

Gosh...I have had numerous roomies from "the dark side".

My first roomie in college was very immature and clingy.  When we moved in together she thought we would be best friends (I already had best friends, so I wasn't looking for that).  Anyway, she would always get outraged when I didn't invite her to do everything with me.  She would tell my friends when they called that I wasn't home and wouldn't give me any of my phone messages.  The worst thing is that she had another friend that went to school with her and the chick would come over and the two of them would go into her room close the door and stay there for hours.  They had "sleepovers" almost every night.  My friends would come over and hang out and we would just look at the door like...hmmm...is there any life in there.  I thought she was a lesbian (which is fine with me, her choice), but she got married about two years later.  Her friend got married to a guy that lives down the street from my aunt and uncle.  I guess they were just anti-social.

After that, I had the roommate from "clean-freak-ville".  Three of us lived in a townhome.  When my other roomie and I moved in with the clean-freak (she had lived in the place for 3 years), she told us that we could each place one picture on the fireplace.  More than 3 pictures would look cluttered.  She would also get ticked at me for not buying nice toilet paper for the bathroom off of my room (it was the main floor's bathroom as well, thus the one most guests used).  What can I say, I'm not a fan of Charmin...I like cheapo Angel Soft way better.  The weirdest thing she would freak about was my Wall Street Journals which I wanted to keep neatly stacked in a magazine rack in the living room.  We literally had a year-long war where I moved the magazine rack to the living room and she moved it back to my room...on and on and on and on...

I think the most annoying thing she did was take everything off the coffee side tables.  She was obsessed with having every surface bare.  I would buy fresh flowers and put them in vases and she would throw the flowers out because they were "junking up the tables".

The other roomie in this situation wasn't much better.  She had nutso boyfriends...a constant stream of them.  The worst was the one that said he was going to come and kill her.  We had to have a cop come and watch the house for a couple of days.  Then there was the boyfriend that broke into my bedroom window one night when he was high on something...oh yeah, how can I forget the boyfriend that brought all the stuff she had stored at his house, stacked it up in our front lawn and then set it on fire?  College days were crazy!

Luckily, I always had many, many sane friends that lived nearby, so I could escape to their houses when things got too bad.  If I had to do college over again, I would have really looked at my roomies before just jumping in to living situations.  All-in-all, I still would have taken my crazy roomies over the sorority house where I should have lived (I lied to get around the "live-in" rules).

I've lived alone for the last 6+ years and I won't live with anyone again unless there is a ring on the third finger of my left hand!

shopgirl, I'm in a really similar roommate situation! I'm currently living with J, a devout Christian who does not believe in drinking, drugs or sex before marriage and does all of her homework the day it's assigned. Then we have R, who is a crazy slut. She talks no stop about her bodily functions and GRAPHIC GRAPHIC sex stories. My friends are always shocked when they come in and she starts talking about getting done up the butt. Or she'll be watching porn. Then there's D. For some reason I hate her the most. I think she might actually be 12 years old. She's the sort of person who I don't think was very popular in high school and so she came to college and decided it would be cool to DRINK ALL THE TIME AND YELL! She and her friends are so obnoxious. They only talk about drinking and boys and how cool they are cause they (gasp!) kissed a boy! And then drank alcohol! They are all suburban kids from just outside Boston and who will just grow up and get married and have kids and live just outside Boston. They recently got a hookah and real into. So bad ass. Sike. I, like you, am delightful, witty, smart, and perfect.

I hate my roommate.  I'm sure you all know why if you've read any of my previous posts regarding this.

i've been fortunate that i've never really had to deal with crazy roommates. the worst experience was my freshmen year of college. instead of having a living room we turned the suite into 5 single rooms. the girl who slept in the open area left a used pad on top of the desk. so we just decided to switch and i started sleeping in that area. one night i came home "early" and found her entertaining guests in my room. they were sitting on my bed with their shoes on. i was livid. other than that i've never really had issues per se. after freshmen year i picked my own roommates, and though we had issues, they weren't really related to the living situation.

however i decided after college that i needed to live by myself. essentially i had an epiphany when i was living with my brother. we had a two bedroom two bathroom apt. and i realized that having my own bathroom was the greatest thing, and i could no longer share one. as it stands i don't intend to live with anyone else until i get married. and even then i'll still need to have my own bathroom.
