I signed up for AOL about 2 months ago because I was having issues with my DSL connection, and I needed a back-up for work.  I work out of my home, so I need access to the internet to receive my work, and the only CD-ROM I had around was one for AOL.

I switched over to a cable modem, and it has been working swimmingly for the past 2 months.  Well, I called today to cancel AOL, and apparently, they pummel their members into submission with queries and offers so they will stay on as members!

The guy kept trying to get me to stay with an offer of an extra free month, then he tried to tell me that AOL with broadband is fantastic.  And he kept asking me why I signed up in the first place and why I was canceling.

After about the FIFTH time of me telling him why I signed up and why I canceled and me refusing the free month because I didn't want to call back in a month and go through the same hassle, I lost my temper and basically shrieked at the man to cancel my freaking account.  I am not a shrieker.  I am actually a pretty calm person, but DANG, come on now, stop telling me I don't know what I want and what I really want is AOL.

It is now 100% sure I will not use AOL for anything ever again, and it's their own damned fault!

I tried for a whole year to cancel my AOL account. Yes, a whole year. I totally understand, Escrime! They did the same thing to me two years ago!
