Halleybird--No crap (about partying schools). Students getting out of control at this celebration has been a thing since the late '80's. There have been several riots. The only difference now is that it's dry, which it went dry because of a murder in 1997, and it's been dry since then. We used to have people from all over the state come to my town just because VEISHEA was known as the biggest partying weekend of the year. The first year of it after it went dry, they had so much police force out: Local police, campus police, state troopers, and supposedly National Guard on call, all because they were expecting people to rebel and start a riot against being dry.
Lots of out-of-town people + in-town people + lots of alcohol=BIG TROUBLE. The whole celebration is cancelled this year because the students caused about $50,000 worth of damage to the campustown area last April.
I was actually impressed we made an blurb on MTV news last year about it.....
I went to Cornell U for my first two years and then I transferred to Vassar (former 7 Sisters school) for my last two. They were pretty much polar opposites. Since they're both in New York, it means I've never lived in another state! Pathetic!
we had a riot at UCLA when i was there, too--when we won the NCAA basketball tournament (i think i was a freshman) and people were so excited that they turned over a car in westwood. yikes!

What are you taking at FIT? I'm doing their Fashion Stylist program.
I think I'm the only Colorado girl on the board. Maybe I should change my name!
I went to Colorado State for my undergrad and CU (talk about partying - and raping, and spouting off about 9/11, etc) for my grad, but I'm a CSU girl at heart and always will be. CU =

1st year: Elon College in Elon College, NC. I would have never graduated if I stayed.
2nd year: Presbyterian College in SC ( not a religious school). Too small...cute southern boys though...
Graduated from Kennesaw State in GA, great school as in just classes and prof( well really only in the business school) Used to just be a commuter school when I was there, they built dorms now and it is supposedly better.

Jen!! My roommate's best friend goes to EMU. Her name is Nikki (something...not sure of her last name) she works for the school's newspaper and is a freshman. Too weird!!
Anyway...I go to a teeny-tiny school in W.Va....Shepherd University.

I went there, too, I did graduate in 2000. Dreaming of going back to North Carolina for grad school at UNC. I love it down there! If you don't mind me asking, Chic, why did you leave Elon?
