Is everyone having someone video tape the ceremony and reception? We're debating whether or not we want one. What are you doing?

We aren't having one - I find video to be to literal of a medium and would prefer to capture only the 'moments' with pictures.  I'm really afraid I would be disillusioned by the video of the event after the fact.

Some people, however, find the video is their favorite part - it's ready right away for you to watch, and if you're having a large event (which you are if I remember correctly) it can capture parts and guests that you may have missed.  They can also capture stills from the video if there is something that you particularly like or something the photographer missed.

For you, I would say do it - it's not a huge expense and if you don't like it, you don't have to watch it.

I think video taping the wedding is cheesey.  I wouldn't do it.  Photos are much more classic.

my friend's dad does it, so one day i was looking through the videos and they seriously made me cry.  my friends dad has him and one other person and they seemed to capture the best moments.  i feel like with the photographs that i saw they were all "staged" moments, not real.  his are very classy.  before i met him, i thought it was a really cheesy idea.  i know he does consultations, so i would meet with someone who does consultations and look at his work and see if you like it.
