I just got back. I loved the books. They were fantastic. I HATED the movie. I thought it was terrible. Kinda made me sad actually. I had expected so much more.

Ok I'm about to start Breaking Dawn. I've read the other three. Is there any spoiler-type thing in the movie that would ruin Breaking Dawn? I think it's supposed to just be Twilight, but I wanted to make sure before I see it!

No, don't worry, go watch it.
HeatherLynn- I didn't hate the movie but I guess I was expecting it to be much better.
I thought Bella's acting was bad in some parts too. Like the scene when they are in her bedroom and the other scene when she's in the hospital and he tells her he's going to leave her. I guess I cant say I hated it because I dont want to! Im hoping the other movies they make will be better. I'm not such a big fan of Edward's look outside of his character (don't know his real name) but I think he's really good looking in the movie. thats it though! I was also disappointed that they didn't show Bella and Alice become good friends. That does happen in the book Twilight right?
I just finished reading Twilight and I LOVED it! I'm starting New Moon. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I hope to see it too. I really like the how the actor guy looks in the movie as Edward, but I agree outside of Edward...eh...not so much. And what's with the girl who plays Bella? Did anyone see them on the Today Show this week? She seems kinda snotty or something. Maybe because the guy who plays Edward is getting all of the attention. I'm starting not to like her as Bella.
The movie sucked, but I wasn't a huge fan of the books and didn't have any expectations.
I really disliked Bella..she was too angsty. In the books she seemed sweeter, more caring, etc. In the movies she was just angsty and depressed looking.

i agree. i think that she seems to have this strange attitude about the movie. i read somewhere that she said she was "forced" to do the movie. i'm not a fan of her at all. she never looks happy, she seems depressed/embarrassed to be doing the movie. i'm going to see the movie tomorrow, and i have a feeling that she will annoy the sh!t out of me.

I liked the movie.I already admited I had high expectations, some that werent met,but all in all I really liked it and will probably see it again.I went with my friend and we kept whispering to each other about what wasnt right,so now that THATS out of my system lol,I can actually watch it. I do agree that I didnt like some of the way things were switched around or left out,and yeah the actress that plays Bella gets on my nerves in interviews. But now I cant see anybody else being these characters.I read Twilight again right before I saw the movie and just started New Moon over again, and thats who I see in my head. YAY TWILIGHT!!!!
And at least it wasnt like Eragon, which I liked until I read the book-I thought the movie was a horrible interpretation of the book, which they left sooooo much out of. But I still cant wait for the second movie...
Or New Moon...

The movie was okay but nothing compared to the book of course. I really love the books.
The Edward and Bella relationship was WAY too rushed. I realize that the movie isn't that long but come on, that was fast! Also the special effects kinda sucked, he looked really weird in the sunlight, kinda like he was wearing roll on glitter. That's not at all how I pictured it to look from the books.

When I was still working in LA they were just starting to put her through the Hollywood mill. I usually have no problem identifying why they are pushing an actor into the public's consciousness, with her, I don't get it. I don't see the "it factor" in the way she looks or the way she acts.
I read the book and I thought it was entertaining but definitely not on the level as Harry Potter (I am sick of hearing people describe it like that). The movie was fair I thought. It stuck to the story line very well and didn't go off in any weird directions like a lot of movies do. Of course the book was more in depth, but what do you expect...they only have two hours to jam 400 pages worth of writing into. I would recommend both the book and the movie to someone ages 13 to 17.
Just saw it last night. I really loved it! It wasn't the best movie, esp if I hadn't read the books, I don't think I would have understood.
I was disappointed in the way they glossed over several things like Bella and Edward not talking for several weeks - the way they fall in love - the way that she can't touch him because he is so cold. They also didn't show how much cooking Bella does, or her tight friendship with Alice. They totally glossed over all of the Cullen's talents as well - Edward's mind reading was mentioned once or twice but I thought it would play more of a role.
I am wondering if they maybe had trouble translating such a big book into 2 hours! Either way I am happy, I didn't have high expectations and the fact that Robert Pattinson is such a hottie made it better for me.
I saw it last night. It was actually much better than I thought it would be. However, the special effects were atrocious! I also thought that the majority of the casting decisions were terrible. A lot of the people in the movie couldn't even act (Mike, Jessica, half the Cullens...)
I also thought it was weird that the Cullens had hardly any lines. I expected to see more of them, but they played pretty small parts.
All in all, I thought it was pretty decent and I'd like to watch it again.

I didn't have high expectations for the movie from what I had seen but it was good for what it was. They changed some things in it so that to me it didn't really seem like the love story that Twilight is. At one point at the beginning with the background music I kept thinking of that old sci-fi tv show hercules and was like ugh no. There were several scenes people were laughing that in the book wouldn't have been funny and I even laughed at a few myself when I was like...what are they doing? lol. There were a couple of parts they added that were really good (the baseball scene ) but others that were lacking. I think they should have let Edward use his own accent and it would have been fine..there were a few parts he sounded wierd trying to hide it lol. As far as the Bella was concerned I read in some article that she was pretty hard to work with. That she would change lines and refused to say some how they were written and pretty much that she had told them if they didn't pick Rob for the Edward character she wouldn't do it. If you've read the host, the whole time I kept thinking...she's not Bella she's Mel. I seriously doubt that the host would ever go to a movie but if it did, she's the perfect Mel. Bella should be more caring and delicate...not so hard and strong. They have already decided to do New Moon now so hopefully that will be better. After I got the "this isn't right, that's not what she says" out I'll have to watch it again just to watch it though.
The highlight of the movie for me was when I noticed Stephenie Meyer sitting at the counter using her laptop in the diner scene....anybody else catch it?

ITA. I have to say, there was muy eye candy! I can't wait for Jacob to grow up..How sad is that, I'm 32! I was really peeved at "Bella's" skills though. CAN you please MOVE your lips when you speak. Made me crazy. I'm kind of afraid to admit it, but I generally dislike Bella's character - even in the book. I think she is the most self-centered character I have read about in a reallllllly long time.

i agree about the eye candy part! i'm 31 and i went with 4 other girls who were for the most part the same age. we were all swooning over edward and james.
what is it with edward that makes all the girls love him?!?! is it just because he's so attractive? i haven't had a faux crush like this one in years?!?!?
bella bugs me too. i didn't hate her in the books, but i'm not a fan of the kristen stewart "meh" attitude towards everything. it's 100% kristen stewart that bugs me vs. bella.
the movie moved way too fast. if you didn't read the books i thought there would be so many WTF moments. it doesn't show the intensity of their relationship at all. the "bad coven" seemed to just come out of nowhere with no explanation of anything.
but still, we get to look at edward.

I totally agree with you! I am also 31, and have a little crush on Edward myself. It's ridiculous! I keep telling myself that I am too old to have a crush on some fictitious guy in a teen novel. And then Robert Pattinson as Edward....um...holy hottness. Total eye candy. I cant get him out of my head!
I think the attraction for me is that Edward totally lives for Bella. No man in real life totally lives for any woman. The only reason Edward does is because A) He's not real and B) Because he's a vampire and lives forever. So what else would he live for? All I know is that whenever Im reading the book, I look over at my boyfriend and think, "Why cant you be like Edward?" Its sad, but true. Not to mention the connection between Edward and Bella; what woman wouldnt want that? Sigh.
And now I release my inner-teen self by posting a pic of him:
