There's a good chance I might have it but I'm kind of scared to get tested. If it turns out I am, is there even anything they can do about it? I don't want the medicine to make me lose my personality...

I do. What kind of test will they do? Just a personality evaluation? I didn't know there was a medical test for it.
I have it, along with generalized anxiety. I am pretty sure I've had it my whole life, but it got a lot worse after college. I spent 2 years on Zoloft and just stopped taking it (about to post about that, actually). OCD is, IMO, the best of the seratonin-deficiency disorders (it drives you crazy, but I'd take OCD over depression any day).
There were both good and bad sides of the medication...you can pm me if you want more info. I do not want to take it anymore, but I really am glad that I took it for that period of my life. I know some people have also used therapy, but I really don't feel like that would work for my issues, which I consider to be mainly chemical.
Don't be afraid to have it...it isn't scary. People are weird about mental health (some of my family members flipped when they heard I was on meds), but it's just like having an ear infection or an ingrown toenail (LOL). You just have to get it fixed
I am not gonna write anymore because I get all OCD when I talk about OCD. Like I said, you can pm me if you want. Good luck

My brother has it so I am very familiar w/it. There is no need to go on medicine unless you think it is detrimental to your everyday life in some way... otherwise you can just learn to live w/it. As for meds, I don't think they would make you lose your personality... of course its all about finding the right 'cocktail' for you but if you'd be more comfortable not on meds by all means skip them! If you have any questions feel free to PM me too.
Do you mean OCD or OCPD? (obsessive compulsive disorder or obessive compulsive personality disorder) I don't have either but I am doing my M.A. in clinical psych so you can also PM me if you have any questions...and if I don't know the answer I can easily find out for you (one of my instructor's mentioned she has a lot of expertise in OCD).
