Leah I am so sorry. I went through the same thing in December. Except mine was two weeks notice but don't bother coming in to work for those two weeks.
I feel terrible for you, I truly understand the emotional roller coaster you are going through. PM me if you want to chat.

Sorry to hear that! It sucks to be in that situation. I've been there too. I believe things happen for a reason and with time this will make sense to you.
I'm so so sorry - I've gone through that too and it is one of the hardest life experiences-be good to yourself and surround yourself with support. It is right up there with divorce and death.
This is so much the wrong time for me apparently...going through divorce, raising my son alone with no financial support from my husband, and now this....argh!!!
I'm so sorry - BIG HUGS - it sucks when bad things happen to good people. Is there any way you can talk them out of it? Did your entire department get the shaft? Have you talked to a lawyer? Are you a member of any sort of protected group? The company probably had their lawyers look over everythign really carefully, but you never know, sometimes these things can be appealed. It's weird that they want you to work for two weeks. Usually that's a risk that a company wont' take, having ticked-off employees hanging around company property and demoralizing workers who haven't been laid off yet.
If that doesn't work, I know you'll find something better. I just got divorced too, and it takes so much energy away from the things you have to do. Now that it's over, all that energy will be coming back and you can use it to give yourself the life you deserve.
~New day, new mindset...or so I am trying to tell myself.
~After many questions, the official answer is that the company is restructuring, and my position is one that will be changing and taking a pay cut...hah! How can they cut pay when I already make next to nothing?!?
~So today I plan on using all resources available to get my new/improved resume out there.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear that. Their a tons of jobs out there but I know it sucks to start over at a new place. Check out careerbulder.com. Everything in life happens for a reason. Just think it may be a blessing.
