Does anyone have any feedback to share. I am inclined to go with sony. Also which model do I get, how different is the $399 from the $999 is it just pixels/resolution/memory? And if I do buy sony do you think purchasing it through their website is my best bet? I don't trust the teenage sales people at best buy for advice plus the atmosphere in there makes me anxious, but if I go in knowing exactly what I want I can bear it. Thanks!!
My advice would be not to go with Sony. I've heard mixed reviews about their cameras and their service is crap - I had a Sony Vaio laptop that died on me so I went through hell with their customer service. The cameras are good but they come with proprietary software and there might be incompatibility issues. I warmly recommend Canon. I have a Canon digicam and many of my friends have Canon gadgets and I only heard raving reviews.
I purchased mine from http://bhphotovideo.com, and I would warmly recommend them (rather than amazon or the brand site). They are friendly and knowledgeable (great to talk to about your purchase!) and their prices are right.
I'm not really familar with this stuff but my boyfriend works at Circuit City and is pretty knowledgable. I can ask him for recs if you want. I have mixed feelings with sony. My sony computer (desktop) is great but my brother's digital camera by sony sucks.
