I am trying to plan a trip for the spring and was wondering if Catalina Island is worth making a day trip to?

I really like Catalina Island.  I think at one time it was owned by the Wrigley family, and was a preferred location for shooting westerns so there are buffalo there. I also really like ceramic arts and Catalina tiles are beautiful if you're into art.  There's a lot of boutiques, the main area in town is very walkable, and you can take a bus tour to check out the rest of the island.  For whatever it's worth, I saw Bruce Jenner walking in the shopping area (obscure star spotting bonus! smile)

I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again, but I did enjoying going there and would recommend it to someone who has never been there...
