Okay girls - it's here - my first skincare crisis of my 26th year. My skin is starting to show signs of aging (in my mind anyway). I can see little, fine lines around my eyes - could be lack of sleep - and the dry skin areas are getting drier.
What to do? What is everyone's usual skincare routine? Is it time to starting thinking acid peel or some other such torture device? I'm not desperate but I'm not too keen on looking older than I am. fyi, i have really fair skin.
Here's my usual routine: shisheido cleanser at night (very smooth, just put some on a cotton pad and rub on your face - no rinsing - very time efficient); exfoliate in the shower; moisturize with spf30, PeterThomasRoth, in the mornings. Sometimes I do eye creams but not that often. Eek! I'm feeling panicky now!
it sounds like you've got the best anti-aging fighter in your routine so far... SUNSCREEN DAILY! i would maybe look for an eye cream with an spf. be careful not to get one that has retinol or a retinoid and spf. they actually make your skin more vulnerable to uv rays and should only be used at night.
i use kinerase cream (just the regular one) and i really can see a difference in those little tiny lines overnight. my skin is very fair like yours, and quite dry/sensitive. kinerase is made from kinetin, which is a natural ingredient that does what retinol does but is extremely gentle. i really recommend it for you.
for daytime, i use this cream by nuxe called "creme fraiche" mixed with a dermalogica sunscreen spf 30.

maybe i'll check out the kinerase cream - i guess you can get it at sephora, right? - this weekend. if it will make a difference, i'm there. i used the estee lauder night eye cream, i forgot the actual name, last night (gotta go get some more) and it really helped the area around my eyes. it always does - not sure why i don't use it more. I'm going to now though!
Thanks for the suggestions.
Also, what about cleansers? Anything specific or just make sure they work and won't tear up your skin?
For cleansers I really can't say enough good things about Mario Badescu's Gylcolic foaming cleanser. It's only $15 and lasts forever, so it's a great value too. Because it is and acid it will help with the fine lines through chemical exfoliation. It is pretty gentle. I have semi sensitive skin and I've used it for years with great success (I'm almost 26) my mom has started using it, and she has very sensitive skin (she's 53) and my acne prone sister uses it and it helps control her acne (she's 21).
At night I like oil of olay face cloths in the black box for old ladies. I've been using anti wrinkle products since I was 19, and I have pretty good looking skin, no wrinkles either!
i use dove soap and moisturizer after. once a week i use a scrub/mask. i find that dove takes off all my makeup effectively, even most of my eye makeup. plus it doenst dry up my skinf like other soaps. i also use a daily moisturizer with spf 15 or 30.
