I'm so done with...

* flats.  yes, I still wear my black ballet flats and my leopard flats... but I am not buying any more flats if I can help it.

* coupons that expire too soon (talking to you, Gap, Express, JCrew and Bebe!).  I need more time.

* anything made out of Modal.  I have so many pieces that are made with modal, and even with careful washing, they all look crappy now.

* trying to find closed toe shoes for Fall/Winter that aren't boots, can be worn with trouser socks so my feet don't freeze and don't look matronly...maybe this is just me... weirdface until then, still stuck with the aforementioned black or leopard flats.

* shopping for jeans.  why is it that I can try on 15 pairs and only find one pair that looks right?

Hey guys...we all can't agree...there are a few things that people mentioned in this thread that I actually happen to like, but who cares, that is just their opinion everyone has a personal style that works for them. If you are secure in it..then "do you!" :)

Here is my list...

I'm TIRED of the election

I'm tired of the whole cutesy stuff too.... I'm in my 30's my daughter and I shouldn't be dressed alike

I am also tired of fringe (eegaaaad) on boots, and bag especially...it is just not my cup of tea..

I'm starting to get tired of silver jewelry...gold is looking so much nicer and richer to me these days..

I own a lot of patent leather but I must say.. it is starting to wear on me...I just think it will look VERY dated in about 5 years..

I'm tired of overpriced kids clothes...seriously someone wants me to pay $200 for kids shoes?!?!? Ridiculous!

I'm in a different boat than most because I'm 32 weeks pregnant.  So with that, I'm over finding really cute stuff that I can't wear now and am scared to buy because I don't know what size/how my body will change after the bebe comes.

In regards to maternity clothes, I wish I could find:

  • Opaque black leggings with control in the butt and thighs but with maternity support in the tummy. I've looked and they don't exist. Sara Blakely... I know you make Spanx leggings so why don't you make me some for your maternity line. Or better yet, make maternity Assets so I don't have to pay $38 a pair for maternity power panties. Thanks.
  • Opaque black tights that fit.  Yeah, I like to cover my pasty pregnant legs. The opaque tights at Pea in the Pod and Mimi are one size fits all. I'm 5'10.5".  Do really think they fit both me and someone who is 5'2?
  • Maternity pj pants in flannel.

And I wish the following lines/stores made maternity:

  • Anthropologie
  • Banana
  • BCBG
  • J Crew

Ahh not just you!  I hate this.  This is my solution (although they are boot-ish):

They're by Sofft and super comfy.

eh, i just went to anthro and bought a belt today.  i found alot of cute stuff, but the friend i went with really doesn't like that store at all.  to each her own.  i like banana, some of you don't.  i'm not a fan of old navy, AE, and some other stores, but i'm sure alot of you feel differently.

but here's what i'm done with...

the words PLUS SIZED MODEL

i'm a 6 sometimes an 8 and on a really good day of a really good week, a 4.  i don't think i'm PLUS SIZED.  i think i'm normal sized.

i think non-PLUS SIZED MODELS should be called MINUS-SIZED MODELS to make all of us feel better.  most of us are plus sized according to fashion standards.

oh, and i'm over button up shirts that gape because i have boobs.
and flats because for some reason, heels are more comfy for me.  how weird is that?

i edited to clarify.

I'm so done with searching for a button down shirt that fits me properly. I have a small waist and large breasts. Even if I size up the shirt won't fit in the boobs (and my Hollywood Tape will pull loose after about an hour or two) and then I'm left swimming in a shirt with my ta-ta's hanging out. I'm done. Apparently I'm not meant to wear them. I am finally taking the hint.

I too am done with the babydoll/a-line/trapeze shirt. I just there were fewer of them on the market for me to pick through to find something with more shape.
I know there are more, I just can't think of them at the moment.... I was thinking of this thread this morning too and I had a whole lot!

I am so done with using the word "curvy" to describe plus sized women (tara t....does it help that I'm not talking about models? wink.gif). That's not what that word means!!!! You can be a size 0 and be curvy, you can be a size 18 and not be curvy. "Curvy" means (or at least did/should mean) that you have curves - i.e. that the measurements of your body go in and out. That has nothing to do with weight or volume.

i'm fine with this :)  i get your point.  do they think that there are "curvy" women and women that are shaped like a paper towel roll?  i'll be over that with you.

Wow.  I'm sure you didn't mean to offend anyone, but you certainly just offended me and many other women on this board.  I know we are all entitled to our opinions, but making sweeping generalizations about an entire group of people is very rude if you asked me.  There are plenty of trends and clothing items that I don't like, but when the ladies on here ask about them I just keep my opinion to myself.  People are very proud of their personal style and they do not want to feel attacked especially in a place where they feel safe and welcome like ST.  JMO.

Omigosh, you are SO right, that came across totally bi+chy to people who like that store. It was late when I wrote that...I had some wine...nope, I have no good excuse.

I was thinking of their corporate image and marketing strategy, not actual people who shop and wear the clothes. The same could be said about UO, VS, A&F, etc. - any chain that has created a distinct company image.

I'm over:

* Paying full price for anything. It's just never worth it.

* Malls. Something happened after I worked in a crappy mall that made me never want to set foot in one again. I almost exclusively shop at standalone stores or online.

* The whole 80s thing - leggings, high waisted anything, bright colors, etc.

* Being too trendy. Part of me hates to admit this, but now that I am older I crave more and more classic, high-quality items that are going to last a long time.

* Buying clothes I don't need. Ok - I haven't mastered this one yet, but after giving Goodwill ten bags full of old clothes that were in almost perfect condition, AND still having a full closet, I have no business buying anything I don't absolutely need. Wish me luck here...

Ok so not meaning to be bitchy but I'm kind of over the whole body image discussion that has arrisen from this topic.

So far I'm hearing complaints about having a tiny waist and big breasts.

Complaints about being a size 6 and considered "plus size" then correcting that size 6 is actually average - ACTUALLY I believe majority of Americans are a size 14 so in my opinion a 6 would be UNDERSIZE if we want to talk statistics...

Also complaints about the word curvy being referred to as plus size.. I guess you find in insulting that your hour glass figure is being associated with people who actually carry more weight than you. I believe its a euphamism. Personally, as a size 12/14 I prefer it to FAT COW and other descriptive words that some prefer.

Maybe I am being sensitive and understand you didn't mean it like that but I am kind of surprised that these sorts of things are so troublesome...

ok, what i was saying is that i'm over the words PLUS SIZED MODEL.  i agree with you...  i know i'm not plus sized.  i'm the 6 that has the issue of the gaping buttons because of the boobs.  i was saying that MODELS are considered plus sized if they wear a 6 or an 8.  that is what i'm over the words PLUS SIZED MODEL.  i'm not saying i'm plus sized.  i do think it sucks that on shows like ANTM and a few others, you are plus sized if you wear a 6 or 8.  like i said above, i think the models who are a size 0 should be called minus sized models.  i also think that models are too skinny and could give the younger girls in the US a complex about being that size.

and not to speak for tara123, but she was saying that you can be a ( i'll use GAP as my example ) size 0 and be curvy or be a size 14 and be curvy.  you can also be a size 0 and be long and lean as well as being a size 14 and be long and lean.  no complaints about bieng plus sized, just saying that the way to describe a fit of jeans shouldn't be about your volume or wieght.  it should be waist and inseam or something like that.

in no way shape or form am i complaining about being a size 6 or 8.  i'm fine with myself the way i am.

Lol...I'm so over everyone getting offended by everyone else's responses on this thread!

just kidding!...kinda.

I'm totally with ayo on this one, everyone's tastes and circumstances are different. Plus we may all be in different stages of life so of course some people are going to be over certain things that some other people are still into.

For example, I can't relate to fashion challenges for people in colder climates because I live in LA. Same goes for pregnancy fashion challenges because I'm not pregnant, or kids' fashion challenges because I don't have kids. Or body image issues because I'm blessed (and work out plenty hard for) a body that the mainstream media does not find objectionable. But I can still empathize. I can still be like--oh yeah I totally get her point or wow i never thought of it that way or yeah that must so suck.

Anywho, here's a list of things I'm over--

1.  Worrying about boys. I'm all about taking back control and so far it's working really well on a certain someone. Wish me luck that I can keep my new mindset!

2.  Eating out all the time. I'm bound and determined to start cooking more, so if you have any recipes--preferably quick, easy and healthy--please share!

3.  Being late. I'm so much less stressed when I leave in plenty of time to get somewhere.

4.  Dresses with no waist. Like these:

click for zoomclick for zoomclick for zoomclick for zoom

5.  Paying extra for moisturizer and mascara.  I was on a La Mer kick for a while but guess what works just as well?  Nivea!  And I've come to realize that mascara is best when it's new, as soon as it starts getting dry and clumpy it doesn't matter whether it's $6 or $60.

I like this!

I am over:

Old Navy as well. I miss the older beaters that were thick and not 4 feet long. Also, since when did the "layering" clothes becomes the norm? Everything is so thin you can layer it three times and its still not good enough.

JCrew and their prices, patterns, see through shirts, and cashmere.

The election.

Everyone blaming the economy.

Target's website. The pictures are the WORST!

Ads for Abercrombie. Three words: Soft core porn

Things I am not over:

Browsing Anthropologie for ideas and buying a similar things at Forever 21.

Shopping in Target. I am pleasantly surprised at the price, quality, and style they offer.

Browsing Ployvore for ideas. They may be teenyboppers, but I get great ideas from them as well.

I am so done with:

*this election...hurry up & just say who won!
*this cold in the morning, super hot in the afternoon weather
*old navy, gap & AE. I go in there and 98% of the time I leave with nothing.
*payless! They never have my shoe size.....no wait they do but it's always some kind of big tennis shoes or huge platforms
*gas prices. no matter what, if I put gas today I know it will be like 5 cents less tomorrow.
