I'm so done with...

Are you over it? Or are you all over it?

I'm so done with Old Navy. The only things I've ever liked from there are the beater tanks, and I don't think the new ones are as good as the old ones. I don't know why I keep browsing their site.

I'm so done with boy shorts. I've spent I don't know how much - $100? $150? - on boy shorts over the years, and have yet to find a pair that I consider remotely comfortable, or any that don't cause VPL. It must be my a$$, because nobody else seems to have a problem.

Zippers on jackets that open from the top and the bottom. They just don't have the longevity of a regular zipper.

Macy's coupons that never seem to do me any good for what I want to buy.

Sweaters that still shed lint after dozens of washings.

Dry-clean only pajamas, robes, and other intimates. That's just not gonna happen.

I like Old Navy but the fit of the pants have never been right!  Same with Gap.  I also have problem not finding 100% cotton jeans!  I hate stretch!  I constantly have lift them up every time I squat down.

Vanity sizing.  It's beyond ridiculous when a lot of things in the juniors department are too large even in small.  When I was in American Eagle the jacket in xs was too large so I had to order it in xxs!  I'm not that skinny.

Arm sleeves that aren't long enough as well as torso lengths.

Ok this is a good thread suasoria!

I am so over ----

1. Buying anything at full price! I have become obsessed with finding really good bargains.
2. Hearing about how bad our economy is every time I turn on the tv.
3. Women trying to hard to look sexy- just plain tacky.
4. femine jewelry. My new love is rocker style jewelery.
5. Having to be worried about other peoples problems.
6. Shoes that hurt my feet!
7. Waiting for CA to finally have fall weather!

I keep buying/ordering things at Old Navy, expecting them to fit/fit well, and then I'm suprised when they don't. weirdface I just need to stop shopping there. Besides, nothing there ever holds up well and I end up getting rid of it a year or even a few months down the line, so I am basically pouring money down the drain. Plus, their jeans are always too small or too big. I can never find a pair that fits well from the minute I try them on to the end of the day.

No more!

I am also so over:
1) Too-early fall weather. It's supposed to be 43 degrees where I live tomorrow.
2) Like Alliegurl, paying full-price. Any time I shop online (which is where I do most of my shopping), I try to find a coupon code. I usually don't buy stuff unless I can find one.
3) Shoes that hurt my feet! I don't own a single pair of heels that don't.
4) Trying to buy skinny jeans. They don't work on me. I've come to realize they are just not designed for me.
5) Exercise dvds. I do not need to buy another one ever again! I have way too many.

Ooh this is fun. I'm so over:

1. How everybody is using the "bad" economy as an excuse
2. Paying shipping on anything
3. High waisted jeans...how are these meant to be flattering again?
4. Celebrities who think they're politicians
5. The words "gas prices"
6. Knock offs and the women who wear/carry them
7. Having to get my jeans altered because they're so long

I'm so over:
1. I hate to say it, but I think I might be over AE's jeans. Their former stretch skinny flares are the only style that fits my butt/hips/waist really well and their current styles just don't.
2. Celebrities political thoughts. I know they're people & they live in the US like us, but they live in LaLa land and are not nearly as affected by political decisions (specifically taxes), like the rest of us in the real world, so I just don't want to hear it from them.
3. My back fat. BLARGH.
4. The lack of AFFORDABLE, and cute size 5 shoes.

1.) I'm also over paying full price. Which is fine because it seems like everyone is having huge sales now anyway.

2.) The whole cute/twee trend as it applies to both decor and fashion. Anything with a bird, butterfly, or deer motif is just done. As much as I love a lot of Anthropologie's clothes, too much of their stuff is just too "cute" for an adult.

3.) The terms "well-edited" and "curated" as it applies to a person's closet. I notice these terms all the time on blogs. It's fashion: stop taking yourself so seriously.

Sometimes it's my own fault, sometimes it's not:  Clothes that don't hold up.
  • Pants, skirts, dresses, and shirts that lose the hem stitch (esp from Banana!), for example.
  • I bought a dress from Bluefly, wore it once and I think my cat snagged a hole in a very conspicuous spot.
  • I caught the sleeve on my Ella Moss top on a nail in a doorway--huge hole.
  • The zippers on my MK Jeans won't stay up, and they have sharp teeth on the zippers.  The jeans have eaten little holes in at least 7-10 tops right at my gut.  I finally did quit buying from The Limited, which was a major offender when it comes to crappy quality
  • Tops that have faded after just a few washes.
  • Either the cat put a hole in one of my newer longsleeve t-shirts from Velvet or I have a moth or something in the closet.
Since when did cotton become so sensitive?

Puffy sleeves

The fact that all shoes, except for--literally--one pair, hurt my feet (flats, sneakers, heels, and boots).

Having to be concerned about what I wear to work--looking professional.  So sick of it.

Being unable to find a happy-medium between Juniors' styles and Grandma ones.  One minute you're looking at Hollister, the next step after that seems to be Eileen Fisher.

Manly button-down shirts

JCrew's super bright colors they release e.v.e.r.y s.e.a.s.o.n.

1. Anthropologie. I can still sometimes find things I like there, but I feel like 95% of their clothes are just not flattering.

2. Chunky heels. I find them really gross now...I don't know how I ever wore them.

3. Flats. Why wear flats when heels are about 100 times sexier? This is my new way of thinking..

4. Baby doll/flowy tops -- enough already!!!! And why are all tops so long?

-Unlined skirts and dresses, especially ones clearly designed for winter or office wear.

-Superlong shirts.  I have a really long torso but these days most tanks cover my hips and hang out below all of my sweaters and blazers.  I think it looks sloppy and it annoys me.

-Expensive jersey items that start pilling immediately.

I don't like these either, but they don't drive me nearly as crazy as the term "price point."

Yes, yes, on so many of these. I am also so over...

Unlined skirts, dresses, or anything they're trying to sell me as "better" dress/sportswear. Ditto skirts and pants without pockets.

Empire/a-line tops. Kitty, you and I both have been complaining about this for what? A year? Can't someone sell a cute top with a normal waist, and, I don't know, darts?

YES also on the bright colors, "seasonal" colors, "fad" colors, and all that. I'll go as far to say colors should not be in or out. Don't tell me I should wear lime or yellow or pumpkin or berry. I know what flatters me.

YES on vanity sizing too. Does Michael Kors think I'll fall in love with him  because he thinks I'm a size 6?? And what happens if popular opinion changes? Instead of S/M/L/XL, should we have Skinny/Normal/Overweight/Obese?

I have to say I was over Anthropologie a long time ago. If fashion is aspirational, I don't aspire to be whoever it is they consider their customer.

- Clothes that don't hold up are one of my biggest pet peeves!  Especially when 'nicer' brands do it - what are you paying for then?

- Jeans called 'Wide leg' when they really mean 'Super-flare with a still-skinny knee'.  No.  Just, no.

- Trying too hard - always tacky, no matter what look you're going for.

- Pants with those slit pockets that are set waaaaay too high (ahem BR, ahem).  Makes it look like your ass cheeks are meeeeeeltiiiiiiiiiing!

- When short is too short and regular is still too damn long.

- Lipstick that is much too bright unless you apply the lightest coat, which disappears upon leaving the bathroom.

I am soooooo over poorly made and poor quality clothing. I don't allow myself to step one foot into Old Navy anymore. However, I have had EXCELLENT luck with Forever 21 purchases - the tops I buy there wear better than my Anthro pieces.

Which leads me to....I am so over Anthropologie. I haven't found anything I've liked there in ages. I pulled a few sweaters out from last year, and they look TERRIBLE! I am quite meticulous about caring for my clothes, and these pieces have held up terribly.

I am so over "edited" too! It annoys the crap out of me. I will neve have a "well edited closet." I am also over "aesthetic" a la Project Runway.

The poor economy and Suze Orman! God she is annoying. Should I be building and stock piling a bunker? Hoarding canned goods? I love when she is on Oprah yelling at everyone, and then Oprah hawks one of her favorite, expensive, must-haves on the next show.

I am so into...being smart but not panicking about the state of our economy, the election being over, cashmere - I am knitting a scarf right now that is so yummy, cole haan nike air, great jeans - why can't all my pants fit like my COH's????

Wow.  I'm sure you didn't mean to offend anyone, but you certainly just offended me and many other women on this board.  I know we are all entitled to our opinions, but making sweeping generalizations about an entire group of people is very rude if you asked me.  There are plenty of trends and clothing items that I don't like, but when the ladies on here ask about them I just keep my opinion to myself.  People are very proud of their personal style and they do not want to feel attacked especially in a place where they feel safe and welcome like ST.  JMO.

I am a proud Anthro customer.  Furthermore, a lot of people think that I am very fashion forward and I look good all of the time.  In fact, I know many people who would kill to have my wardrobe which is full of many Anthro pieces.

Uh yeah, I 2nd Farrah here.  I have to say I read this and thought "um, ok, well I'm a big Anthro customer, so thanks for putting me down"  I'm sure you didn't mean it to sound so offensive, but it really did.

I take pride in my wardrobe and the way I dress and a lot of that includes Anthro pieces, which I think look pretty good on me.

Just like Farrah, I don't like a lot of stores or styles the girls on here post about, but I don't make rude comments about them either.  That's what makes everyone different and I can appreciate others tastes, even if they don't agree w/mine.

I am so over....

-this election. I know who I'm voting for, and I just want to VOTE for him already and make the whole country quiet down and quit picking on each other and being nasty to people who don't agree with them. I'll be happy once Nov. 5th rolls around.

-boot shopping. I must be super picky because I feel like I've looked at hundreds of boots and not found exactly what I want.

-work. I spent an hour on the phone this morning with a guy who decided that everything he had me do last week, he wants me to UN-do. I could've just not come in at all last week and been just as productive.

-shopping in person. I know I need to, but I just never have the urge anymore. The idea of going out and trying clothes on for hours tires me. I am doing my share of online shopping, though.

-beer. I just can't stomach it anymore. I feel prissy when my friends and I go out and I always get wine, but the idea of gulping down more than one sip of any beer except Rolling Rock nauseates me.

-Empire Waist/Drop Waist/Babydoll shapes - so unflattering!
-Skinny jeans, love the look, don't like it on me
-Uncomfortable heels
-Overpriced clothing that instantly hits a sale 2 weeks after it comes out (some BR items are so expensive but this year I've seen store-wide 30% off sales, why not just price correctly and you won't have to discount)
-only finding 36C bras. There are other sizes ya know!
-blisters - I bought a pair of Aerosoles flats for COMFORT that eat away at my skin whenever I wear them. I have stillettos that are more comfortable.
-80s anything - esp cheap tacky plastic jewelry

*Designers not realizing that some women have huge breasts and tiny waists! We don't want to look pregnant!

*People yapping about what's in and what's out. My feet are cold darn it and I'm gonna wear my UGGS no matter whatfrustrated.gif

*is it a dress is it a tunic is it a top?

And farrah I agree with you, my entire work wardrobe is made up of 90% Antho stuff and I look good! wink
