Italian Bridal Shower Theme

copy from food and dining...  thought this topic fit here as well...

I'm a MoH orgainizing a bridal shower in April.  The bride is in love with anything Italian, so we decided to theme the party Italy.  So, I'm thinking wine, cheeses, antipasto, and some pasta dishes and tiramisu.  Anyone have other ideas?  What about decorating ideas?

Basically, what makes you think of Italy (other than Gucci and Prada)?

I would decorate with olive branches - garlands of them can be had pretty inexpensively.

Might be a little fancier than you're going, but some ideas nonetheless!

an easy way to set a mood is music. you could find modern italian pop songs for an upbeat party or andrea bottcelli(sp?) for a more relaxed event. also, for fun you could play the tarantela...

the food sounds perfect!

I think someone I knew did this...or maybe I saw it on tv...but anywho, they took old empty tin cans of jarred whole peeled tomatoes and espresso cans used them as planters for centerpieces. Then they did something w/ uncooked spaghetti too...hmmmmm it's sounding more like a kindergarten art project now that i think of it...but the way they did it I remember I was like "that's cute and crafty" if I think of it I'll post it...

biscotti is always good too. My mom made homemade biscotti and italian cookies for 250 people to serve as favors and desert at my sister's wedding.

And of course chianti and pinot grigio! ;)
