I had been trying to grow my hair out, but alas, it is too damaged and needs to be cut. Currently it is just below the shoulders.
Anyway, I need some ideas for hairstyles to take to the salon...something with some real shape to it as my hair is fine, but there is a lot of it and one-length cuts make it look way too boxy.
I want to put some dramatic varying color highlights in tones of blonde, gold and caramel (hair is currently medium brown with reddish undertones).
I have the same hair - and it works well with layers cut in at cheekbone length. I tried the blunt cut forever, but it's always too boxy like you said.
if you really feel your hair is damaged, i would recommend reconditioning it with weekly deeps, and using protein reconstructors before highlighting.
also, if your hair is all one length now, i would recommend getting it cut before you get it colored because then the color can be curtailed to the cut exactly.
I do deep condition weekly. Only the ends are damaged, so it isn't as bad as I made it sound. I have decided to get my hair cut like Ashlee Simpson's new cut and I'll get the highlights after the cut!
