We turned in application last month and deposit---We're approved! woohoo!
We filled out the next round of paperwork--11 pages and we each had to write a 3 page biography about our childhood, school, relationships, what we liked/disliked about how our parents raised us, family, college, jobs, goals, how we met, what we like/dislike about each other, why we want to be parents, strenghts, weakenesses, etc.
Now the home visits start---

Yay! This is so exciting! I'm sure they will love you! What do they do in the home visits? If things go well, are you able to adopt a baby or are there more steps? How long do you think it will take until you have a baby?
Very exciting! I want to adopt in the future, so keep us updated. I have been doing a lot of reasearch about it, but would be really interested in hearing how it is going for you. Where are you adopting from?

I admire you and your husband for adopting. My parents adopted me at birth and I plan on adopting in the future (not just because I want to but also b/c it looks as if I'll never have natural born children).
I'm anxious to hear more about your experience and I wish you all the best!
We are adopting from China. That was the best choice for us and we are excited about it. It should take about 10 months. Hopefully by Christmas! But maybe Jan. I will keep you guys updated. My husband and I read each other's biographies before we turned them in and his was so sweet. He is so much better with words than I am.
She will be b/t 6 and 12 months old. Most likely around 9 months and probably a bit tiny for her age. We will travel to China to pick her up and stay two weeks. We hope to go to Hong Kong beforehand. I have heard the shopping is amazing.

CONGRATULATIONS!! mikacat i know i've said this before but it bears repeating--you (and your hubby!) are such an inspiration. i'm sure everything will go super-smoothly. keep us updated!
yay, Mikacat!! That's great news!! I'm so excited for you. I don't know if you knew this, but I read somewhere that certain airlines (not sure which ones, sorry) will give couples discounted fares for traveling to and from the country where the adoptive child resides. That might be something worth looking into before you go to China, if you haven't already. Take care and definitely keep us updated!
Mikacat...Wow, Congratulations to you both! This is a topic near and dear to my heart-I was adopted as a three-year old, and am considering 'paying it forward' by adopting a child myself...though that will, in my case, have to hold off for at least another year or so.
Feel free to message me if there are any 'adoption' questions you have...
