A KP treatment from www.dermadoctor.com was featured in the Feb. issue of Allure. I just checked it out on the website and I think I'm going to get it. It's a lotion made up of mainly glycolic acid (does anyone know if that irritates the skin?) it's a bit pricey - $36 for 4 oz. I've had KP for years and I'm so eager to get rid of it that I'm willing to shell out for this stuff. Just wanted to share.
Edit - I was just reading the reviews and it seems a little strange that everyone has given it 5 stars (or testubes). Am I right to be suspicious? Or maybe it really is that great of a product?
I looked up this product on makeupalley for you. THe reviews there are mixed and only 60% would buy the product again. Here is the link if you would like to read the reviews:
I posted about this before. I saw the product on Sephora. If you try it, please let me know what you think. If this stuff really does work, I'd spend the money. (I hate those damn bumps)
Grace - I don't know how I forgot that you posted about this; I just did a search and realized! After reading the MUA reviews doveanunu posted (thanks for that!), I don't think I'm going to buy it. One of my friends who has KP suggested that I get my arms waxed (most of my KP is on my upper arms) Have you tried this? Apparently it works wonders on the texture of the affected skin...
The Skin The skin, sometimes called the third kidney, is the body's largest organ. During every 24-hour period, the body makes new skin. When it functions efficiently, it eliminates two pounds of waste acids daily, so its ability to excrete toxins is of paramount importance; when the skin ceases to function properly, an increased burden is placed on the lymphatic system and other excretory organs. The functioning and health of the skin can be increased by Dry Skin Brushing. Dry Skin Brushing removes the top layer of skin, which helps to eliminate uric acid crystals, catarrh and other acids in the body.
Dry Skin Brushing The technique is simple. With a long-handled, firm, natural bristle bath brush, beginning at the soles of the feet and working your way up the legs, torso, back, hands, and arms (in a circular motion and always toward the heart), brush away the dry, top layer of dead skin. The increase in circulation is immediately apparent and produces a clear complexion, improved colouring and smooth skin.
Daily Dry Skin Brushing for 3 - 5 minutes can easily fit into one's morning grooming regime and offers an opportunity for the body to "breathe" before being blanketed in clothing.
e doli, so you just use the skin brush for a few minutes before you shower and that's gotten rid of the bumps? I have to try this - do you use any other exfoliants or lotions for KP?
yup, i do my whole body, but i guess you could just do your arms if you wanted to. they don't go away instantly, but if you do the brushing regularly it works. (i can't remember how long it took -- didn't start using the skin brush for that reason but after doing it for a while noticed the bumps were gone)
i don't use any lotions or other stuff for KP.
the brush can be kind of scratchy when it's new and you have to get used to it (it will soften up over time)
Thanks for the info; I just went to target to get a skin brush and I'm about to try it out. I also picked up Neutrogena's skin smoothing body lotion which, according to a bunch of reviews on makeupalley, is supposed to be great for KP. I'll let you know how it works!
