So now that I'm bored to death and really get stuck watching Man vs Wild with my husband (its a disturbing show sometimes) and son....I'm desperate to start another book again! I was wondering what you all would recommend. I've already read the Shopaholic books too. I want something like Twilight, where it leads to me buying another book. hehe!
I really like Chuck Palniuk, but I've only read one of his books. It's his nonfiction book "Stranger than Fiction" and is just a bunch of essays about different things people do (like, combine tractor demolition derbies, or the "testical festival" or people who build castles). I want to read another one of his books right away. He wrote the book that the Fight Club movie was based on, and there's another movie coming out soon called Choke that is based off of one of his books. My boyfriend has read almost all of his books and he loves them and is always trying to get them on the top of my "to read" pile!
ETA: none of his books are about vampires, I just meant that they are like Twilight in that they'll probably lead you to want to read more and more :)

If you want to continue the supernatural theme, what about Anne Rice's books? I recently read The Witching Hour and then Lasher -- both were good reads -- not high art, but interesting characters and ideas... she wrote the vampire series too -- Lestat, Interview with a Vampire, etc.

I was so desperate for more Edward and Bella that I re-read the whole Twilight series and now that I'm done, I'm thinking of re-reading again lol. If you want to continue the vampire theme, I've heard from a lot of people that the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris is really good.
I just started a book called Wicked Lovely.I mean I am literally just thru the first chapter lol.Its gotten mixed reviews on Amazon,(most liked it) and I found it in paperback at Target so it was nice and cheap haha. Its about a human girl that falls in love with a fairy. Ive heard it compared to Twilight with the plot being so similar, and I'm a little afraid I wont like it as much, seeing as how like many others on here I am SOOOOO in love with Edward. But most series with paranormal ties catch me. I do really like the Yasmine Galenorn books that are also in a series: Witchling,Changeling,Darkling, and Dragon Witch(so far.Theres a 5th coming out in January)that are about 3 half human half fay sisters, and one of them is a vampire. And Anya Bast is a good author also(VERY steamy...I blushed a bit!!)Her books,Witch Fire,Witch Blood (and a third to follow) were entertaining. The Nora Roberts trilogy Morrigan's Cross,Dance of the Gods and Valley of Silence were AWESOME and they involve a vampire, and her Three Sisters trilogy is one of my favorites, though those are about witches. OK I have to stop or I'll keep on forever.I am such a book nerd but I dont care. HTH!!!!
And for the record---I miss Edward and Bella too!! If there is ever a petition for fan support to make Midnight Sun a reality,I am so on it!! E&B4EVER!!!!!

Have you ever read the weetzie bat series by Francesca lia block? They are a bit young but I still like reading them for fun sometimes. I liked Necklace of Kisses a lot- which was what happened with the characters once they were adults. But you should probably read the other ones first. Quick reads.
i've read the series of books that "True Blood" is based on. they are pretty quick easy reads. it's called the southern vampire series by charliane harris.
i also bought diablo cody's biography... sounded good to me and i'll post a review if anyone is interested.

Just off the top of my head, here's some series that really were amazing (in the beginning, like most series, they tend to start dropping off somewhere around the middle):
1. Meredith Gentry series by Laurell K. Hamilton Lots of sex the farther you get into the series, so you have to be able to handle that! It's about fairies, so you also have to be able to handle that. 2. Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton Same deal, lots of sex. This time around it's about vampires and other creepy crawlies.
Both of the above books are pretty interesting since Hamilton explains some of the "history" of both the fairy world and vampire society. But, in both series, the farther you get along in the line of books (both are around seven or so) the more they become about sex so I actually stopped getting so excited when a new one was coming out. The last few have all been library pick-ups.
3. Kushiel's Legacy by Jacqueline Carey This series of books has been probably one of my favorite series ever. Wonderfully deep and complex characters with a beautifully built world.
