zoloft....although i have general anxiety more than social. I have had no side-effects or weight gain and I have been on it for years. Everyone is different though. Paxil did nothing for me.
I have generalized anxiety with some social aspects to it (but not social anxiety per se). I was on Zoloft for a few years. It was great, but I had to stop taking it b/c it made me SO tired.

I feel that way about any anti-depressant or anxiety drug I've ever been on. I guess if you are tired, you really can't freak out or be depressed over anything. Hmm...maybe that is the point. I've been on Prozac, Effexor and Paxil.
Being tired is my #1 concern because I keep hearing that from people. You guys know how much into fitness I am and if a drug prevents me from working out, that would not be good. But I need to get better so I guess I'll just have to see how the drugs affect me. Thank you all for giving me your advice.
jen...talk to your Dr. about it. Actually, mine said that Zoloft can also make some people less tired; it just depends on your body chemistry. Also, some drugs (like Paxil) can make you gain weight...as much as 20 lbs in some cases. However, weight gain and sleepiness are a small price to pay for mental health, IMO. Good luck!

I know it sounds stupid to be concerned about weight when I know I need medicine but I'm really weird my body and weight gain. But I figure I can always stop taking it and switch to another med if the side effects are too much for me. Thank you all for your input.
