I don't have any, and I've never heard of them before.  I can't say I'm digging the generic look of them, but who knows, maybe if I tried them on I'd feel differently...

I have also never heard of them and I have to agree with D, I feel like they look a bit too generic. If you are looking for skinny jeans, I really like the ones from Express and Gap. Great fit and a really good prices.

I checked out the site.  I contacted them to see if they would be willing to donate a pair so I can review them for the site.  I'm not holding my breath, but if you don't ask, the answer is always no!

I received this response: "Sorry, can’t donate because that is paying for reviews which we never do."

I responded with, "Well, donating is also paying for promotion.  Thanks anyway."

There's no way in hell I'm going to pay $200 for a pair of jeans I can't try on or read a subjective review on...  And as far as their reviews go, why would I trust the ones on their site?  It could all be employees of the company for all I know.  Subjective reviews by a trusted source outside their company will give them much more credibility (you guys do trust me, right? wink)

Maybe they have something to hide and don't want reviews they can't control...

ok, first of all, I'm surprised this woman is giving me the time of day.  she just emailed me again saying "That’s why we don’t donate. All the magazines that review us return the jeans to us- no payola!!"

to which I responded, "I find it very difficult to believe that the publications that mention you return samples, but if you’re able to get them to do that, more power to you!"

I wonder what they do with all the worn jeans that are supposedly returned to them...  And knowing the tons of samples national fashion magazines receive, I can't imagine them spending the time and expense to send them back.

also, I never told her I'd give her a good review, so the "payola" comment was a bit out of line.

interesting.

Thanks, D! I'm surprised by the email exchanges. They want you to believe that all the magazines that write about them send the jeans back? I don't think so! I am suspicious of their reviews too. They remind me of the reviews on the Bliss website, which are all glowingly positive. Maybe one of these days I'll order a pair (I mean I can always send them back), but this makes me hesitate.

After reading about these jeans a few months ago in a magazine, I decided to order a pair through the company's website. It's never easy to find attractive, fashionable jeans in my size and ones that make you look thinner to boot sounded too good to pass up.

Well, I placed the order in late July and got nothing. I did a little poking around on the internet and saw that other customers waited as long as two or three months to get their jeans, if they got them at all. A few that did get them complained the jeans didn't fit well. There seems to be one troll who badmouths the company at every opportunity, but at the same time there seems to be other unhappy customers and they didn't sound like socks. It's the internet, who knows?

I sent an e-mail to the company asking about the status of my order after three weeks. I was told that it was part of an order being made at the factory. After a couple more weeks I decided it wasn't worth the bother for the amount of money and I cancelled the order.

I've bought things from up and comers before with no trouble. It's foolish to promote your product in national magazines like Glamour and InStyle if you're unable to keep up with demand. I don't think this company is going to stick around for very long if this is how it does business.

omg - relentless! she sent me another e-mail!

she wrote, "Then you don’t know publishing. All the major magazines return samples, they don’t fish around for free samples!!!"

To which I responded, "First of all, people send unsolicited samples to me for review frequently.  One of my readers expressed interest in your product, and I volunteered to contact your company to see if you would provide a sample for review.  I wasn’t looking for “payola” as I never told you I would guarantee a positive review.

I personally doubt you sent samples to any publications at all.  From what I’ve heard from a reader since we’ve been corresponding, it seems you can’t fill your orders, so I can’t imagine how you sent samples out.

The exchange that we’ve had has increased skepticism about your product among myself and my readers as we have found your reaction to my inquiry interesting.

If these jeans are all you say they are, I’m shocked you have the time to spend e-mailing me because any jeans that do as you claim must be flying off the shelves.  Oh, that’s right, there are no jeans on the shelves.

Take care, and good luck."

she must have sent out a press release and all mentions were written from that. whatever, lady... sheesh!

I have never ever received samples of my work back from ANY media outlet, whether it be a blog, a website, or a magazine. She is oozing BS.

wow - this woman, Catherine Hart, is a piece of work!

I checked my e-mail this morning and this is what was awaiting me:

"Are you stupid?
Catherine Harthello@skinnyjeans.com"

um, yeah, stupid in thinking you would know the first thing about the fashion industry.  I'm not going to e-mail her back - this is becoming a huge waste of time.  considering her focused attention on corresponding with me, I sure she's probably reading what is posted here on the forum anyway.

what a whackadoodle!!!

oh, and btw -- I would not purchase her product EVER! I don't care how good the jeans could make me look.  Besides, the reviews I was able to find on-line say they're poorly made and look like mom jeans and everyone is returning them.

nothing ventured, nothing gained I guess.  in this case we gained some entertainment value smile

That is totally bananas!! I know that we don't usually do forum cross overs, but you should post that exchange on other forums such as MUA and Lucky just to reach more people so they boycott her product too. I'm so sneaky and mean, MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

you have my permission to do so.  I think people need to be warned!  I would post it around, but I have to get in a run before I get ready for a lunch meeting, then have a full afternoon - but please, be my guest!

Thanks misspadme! It sounds like more hassle than it would be worth.

D - this woman sounds like the epitome of disrespect! I am staying far, far away from this company.

This is such craziness. I agree with you 100% D, any press they got was not from anyone trying the samples at all. I write for a beauty blog and in dealing with PR people, they usually send samples like water, or if they can't they will try to hype up the product and educate you. I can't imagine that anyone in the industry would have the nerve to get so snotty over samples, all she had to do was say "I'm sorry we don't supply any at this time, why don't you read this release, they're available at x y and z" I can't imagine ANYONE sending emails FROM WORK saying things like "Are you stupid?" - I would be tempted to email your correspondence to the general email address at the company. I have worked with a lot of fashion snobs but they would at least have the brains not to ruin their own reputation.
