this bag?

I have been saving money for an investment bag but I don't really know what I want.  I just saw this new one from Dolce and Gabbana and I am really, really drawn to it.  I especially like the green one, but if I got it I would buy the beige one because I think it has more longevity.

Do you guys think that this is classic?  Is the tassel too long and will it date the bag?

I'm leaning towards no on the purchase because if I'm going to spend a lot I want to be absolutely sure but I wanted to see what others have to say about it.  Thanks!

it is a really cute bag. and I agree, the shade of green could date it eventually.  I think what would date it more is the styling - not so much the tassel (like that btw) but the metal rings/rivets look - it's a very common look in bags today - it may look dated a couple of years down the road - let me emphasize *may* - hard to say for sure, but most likely.  If you want to plunk down a bunch of money on a purse you'll use forever, I would go something with more classic and simple styling.  I am only saying this because I have been around the block a few times and am pretty familiar with the degree if zeitgeist styling in items.

Gucci and chanel have some very classic looks - don't know what your price point is though - let me know and I'll post some pics to better illustrate what I'm referring to...

Thanks, Detroit.  That's kind of what I was thinking, too.  I wish I had infinite income and could just buy stuff without worrying about longevity.  If I find something that I love that will last a really long time I'd be willing to spend about $1500.

ok - I've been looking around, been eyeing bags I would want to spend money on... first of all, any Chanel quilted bag would work for me (hard to find online stores that sell authentic ones on the web - so I'm unable to find pricing and pics)... I've been eyeing the Celine boogie bag because the styling is more subtle...  But then - it's really what sings to YOU - I suggest you go shopping - just to look - consider it research... Just think about simplicity/classic in design and a color that won't look dated soon.

I think about my car purchase and my thought process. I wanted to buy a car that would still look good 10 years later. Classic body styling, classic color.  The only colors that really never look dated on a car are silver, black, and white. White's too conservative for me. I like black a lot, but it sure does show the dirt. So silver it is.  With body styling, Mercedes remains fairly classic... So I ended up buying a silver Mercedes C class sedan. I have had it for 7 years now (paid off) and I still get complimented on that car - I definitely see driving it without embarrassment for another 3 years plus... So, sorry for the elaborate story, but that's the kind of thought process I think you should have with an investment bag - something you will enjoy for many years. Personally, I would be eyeing an authentic Chanel on ebay (they have holograms and serial numbers - yes you can get authentic Chanel on ebay). But that's me and the classic Chanel styling appeals to me and may not to you.

ok - those are my rambling thoughts - I hope I was of some help!
