Cheap but good blow-outs
Permalink Closed

Since I have been pregnant I've noticed that I don't style my hair, i.e. blow it dry and straighten it and wear it down, as often as I used to b/c I don't have as much energy carrying this baby around and I am always running late in the morning (due to the fact that my sleep is always interrupted each night, I'm always feeling sleep deprived so I have to sleep more).  As such, I've decided that I would try this idea:  I would go to a lower end, mediocre salon and get a wash and blow dry once a week, preferably on Fridays so that it would be nice for when I go out to dinner that night, etc.  However, I have very little experience with lower end salons (sorry if that sounds a bit pretentious) and I have no idea which ones to stay away from and which ones might offer a good service at a decent price.  I would never get a cut there of course, just a blow dry which I think most stylests can do pretty well, even at the cheap salons (I'm thinking).

So, what do you all think of this idea?  Any suggestions on cheaper chain salons I could try?  Supercuts (eww?)?  Hair Cuttery?  Toni and Guy?  Asian salons?  I'd like to keep the price around $20-25, since I am going to be doing this weekly.  Please let me know your thoughts!  Thanks!

i personally would go to an asian salon -- i went to chinatown once in HS to get my hair cut (literally cutting the length from left to right) and they would blow my hair out and the total would be $10. and it was fine.. nothing to write home about; it was just a simple blow out. might be worth checking out.

Thanks, Monica.  I took your advice and found a couple of Asian places--1 charges $23 (w/ a coupon) and another $20.  Not as great as $10, but I'm going to give it a shot b/c it's much cheaper than my regular salon.  Thanks for your input!
