I actually really like Vanity Fair Illuminations bras, the kind you find at department stores, because they are seamless, inexpensive, and practical. I have to have seamless bras that won't show underneath clothes because my bra size has grown beyond a C in recent years and I tend to feel like I am busting out of T-shirts and any stretchy sweaters.
I also discovered Gap Body Smooth T-Shirt bras last year, love them.

I love the Very Sexy line from VS (even though they gap a little on me, they still are seamless under my shirts). And I love the Angels add-a-cup t-shirt bra (or whatever it is called) from VS.
And as far as strapless goes, last night I bought my first NuBra, I think it's love! I'm wearing it this weekend with a strapless dress, I'll report back next week
I swear by Gap's low cut tshirt bra. It also has a racerback option which is great for tanks/beaters. I wear these whenever I can. I used to wear the popular body by victoria ones, but now I wonder why I even bothered. The material always bunched up and the cups never held their shape. Even then, for some insane reason, I would buy them whenever they'd be on sale. Never again.
Here's a pic of the gap ones:
I forgot to add, I'm still looking for a good strapless. My VS convertible (I think it's BBV, too) is forever falling down.
My favorite for comfort/functionality is the Body By Victoria demi (the one that's their best seller). My favorite strapless is actually the Very Sexy convertible (I took the removable pads out). I used to have the BBV convertible, but this one is 1000x better.

miss bean, i completely agree! a few years ago, i discovered the gap low cut t-shirt bra and it is hands-down the BEST bra ever. i have several that i rotate and i wear them all the time. basically every day. they are so comfortable and give great lift and cleavage without the scary fem-bot boob look. my sister and a few friends of mine are also hooked. the quality is great. EVERYONE should have at least one of these bras in their lingerie drawer!
one question, did they stop making the cotton version? i can't find it in the stores!

I'm not sure if they stopped making the cotton ones, but I do remember seeing them on sale awhile back, so maybe?
the gap bra isn't padded, but it is lined. seems like extra thick lining or something because it's more substantial than other lined bras that i've had. (this is good if you work in an air-conditioned office!) the bra is great- the combination of underwire and lining give good structure to the bra- which translates to greater support for the twins!
