Website/Store w/dresses for non-traditional bride
Permalink Closed

For those of you looking for wedding dresses: Has anyone noticed websites or stores that cater to the slightly older/non-traditional bride? My dad's fiance is 46 and would like to find a dress or suit/outfit set that she can wear again...i.e. special occasions/weddings etc. She's thinking of something off-white, beige or champagne colored. (This is her and my dad's 3rd marriage)

Anyone?

Thanks so much

(I don't think of 46 as 'old' but it's not a typical age for a bride...just wanted to clarify that )

I would check out the usuals, and then move on to the more obscure:

www.davidsbridal.com

www.theknot.com

www.weddingchannel.com

www.modernbride.com

You can also try yellowpages:  Type in Bridal in the business type and your city/state - it'll spit ou a list of all the bridal boutiques in your area and provide a link to each of their websites, if they have one.

If she is looking for a suit she may just want to check out some department stores and see what they have. Especially come April/May they bring out a lot of light colored suits.

I was so excited to see this post because I'm also looking for something non-traditional. Not so much like a suit, but at least a wedding dress that's not white or off-white or winter white or ivory or cream or mother-of-pearl or champagne or eggshell or any other variation of WHITE!

I really haven't been able to find anything that could be described as a "unique" wedding dress. I'm on the lookout though, so if I come across something I'll let you know.

If not white, then what color?

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but she's looking for something wedding-ish. She wants something somewhat traditional but not a "mother of the bride" dress.

theotherjess: where you asking me or gruiz?

how dressy is the wedding? Is she thinking a long dress or short? And are there certain things she's uncomfortable wearing (i.e. sleeveless?) ideas:

i think this is really pretty and definitely could look like a wedding dress, but also not like a wedding dress, you know?

Thank you so much for the dresses you all are posting. I love the one you posted Valenciana and I e-mailed it to her, but I'm not sure how she'll feel about sleeveless or even something with a thin strap.

She's soooo short, so I'm not sure if she wants to go too long, but we'll see. I think we're going to go out within the next few weeks to look around.

Halleybird; The wedding will be held in the church, and the reception definitely won't be anything fancy, but the MOH and "best person" will be in black, and my dad will be in a black suit, so I guess it's going to be dressy. I'm not sure if she's thinking long or short, but I'm pretty sure she wants her arms covered.

Thanks again everyone!
