This is probably my first post in the career forum that doesn't have a negative title.


I had sent my resume to an internal posting for a marketing position and last week the hiring manager contacted me and had me do a project.  I submitted it on Tuesday and she called me today and said she LOVED it and over the course of next week, she wants me to meet with a hundred billion people in her dept.  THEN, I told my boss (she wanted me to tell him because she and her dept are going to take up a lot of my time next week) and he took time out and gave me some great advice and even looked up the people in the dept and told me about their personalities and what I should expect from a meeting with each of them.  Wow!  Is this really happening with my job? 


I'm nervous, but I am going to skip the Super Bowl party I was going to on Sunday and spend the WHOLE day preparing.  I don't just want this job.  I really need to get it.  I don't have a choice.

Yay!!! I'm so excited for you.  This is great news!!! Maybe your boss finally realized you weren't going to stay and work for him while he "tried" to help you find a different job that you were going to leave whether it meant working for the company or elsewhere and he is going to be nice about it.  Who knows.

That is so great! I still wouldn't trust someone who has already indicated a willingness to take advantage of you. But enjoy this respite! Wonder what changed his mind?

I don't know.  Maybe he was never out to sabotage me in the first place and I've been completely paranoid and misreading his actions.  Or maybe he just knows I won't get this job anyway so he figures it wouldn't hurt to act like he's helping. 


I'm really excited (but nervous) for this coming week and all the interviewing I have to go through for this job.  Also, there is another job in that dept available so if I do well in interviewing, but somebody with more experience or something gets the job, I will probably have a good chance at getting the other job.
