I am stuck in a hair rut. I have long hair and often pull it back but I'm at a loss about what to use in my hair to pull it back. I've always used clips or those claws but I think those are so out now. I feel like I'm either 10 or 45. What can I use and still be stylish?
I tie a printed silk scarf around my head by folding it halfway into a triangle and then I tie the ends at the nape of my neck. I plop my sunglasses on top and I actually get a lot of compliments on it.
Also, if you're not as accident-prone as I am, you could probably stick chopsticks in your hair as well. I used to do this except I kept hitting things with the chopsticks.
I put my hair up in a ponytail with a plain black elastic (I think Goody makes pretty good Ouchless ones that actually hold my really thick hair) and then loop half the hair through the leftover elastic so that the ends kinda splay out everywhere. It's a little messy but I can wear it to work without a problem.
I use plain black Goody bands. You can also take a thick strand of hair and wrap it around the band then tuck it in with a bobby pin.
Often if I don't have a band, I will use a pencil or pen to wrap my hair up, but this tends to pull out hairs in the tightening process.
I like tying a bandana or neck scarf around the band too.
I wonder if scrunchies and clippies will ever come back in style. I will be laughing if they do, but I will gladly partake too. I used to love a style with clippies where I would pull my hair out of the top and curl it over, it would look like a flower.
