Broken Nose?!?!?!
Permalink Closed

So my b/f played basketball last night in his league...and he got hit in the nose!  It is very swollen and black and blue....and crooked!!!!  He insists that it is not broken, and it will be straight again once the swelling goes down.  I feel so bad for him!  He has all these business meetings today and he looks like a boxer!  Should he go to a Dr. to have it "straightened out"?

I broke my nose a few years ago and the doctors basically told me that there's nothing they can do.  I looked awful, I had two black eyes.  It should be ok, he can goto the doctor if he wants but they probably won't do anything.

I guess if it looks really crooked he might as well go to the doctor. I think if he wants it fixed they might have to rebreak and reset it, but I'm not sure about that.

My sister broke her nose at a concert in high school and it was swollen for a few days, plus she had the two black eyes, but she didn't go to the doctor. She has a bump on her bridge now but it's no big thing. Actually, she fell the other night and her nose was shooting blood all over the place and it's all bruised and swollen but I'm not sure if she broke it. Her nose didn't look crooked either time though.

He may want to go once the swelling is down. I got hit in the nose hard a few years ago and the blow was so hard that it deviated my septum. Since then I get massive sinus headaches and infectiosn on just the side with the deviated septum. I am hoping to go in for surgery on it in the near future. When surgery was first discussed I said I would wait till i go in for the first face lift at 35/40 but the infections are too regular and annoying now so I want it done sooner So long story short he should get checked out it could lead to other health issues down the road.

That is good to know.  My b/f has always been a very loud snorer (argh!) and now his swollen nose is exacerbating the snoring.  It is just awful!
