You could try IKEA. I think that they have solid wood bookshelves and also shelves with veneers that look like wood. Target also has the veneer versions. You could also try an unfinished furniture store. They would probably have something like that and then you could stain it whatever color you want.
I second Ikea - their solid wood bookcases are nice quality and also a good price. Beware that if you buy a veneered one from Target, you definitely get only what you pay for - most of them come with the cardboard backer that 'looks' like wood. The one I had was pretty rickety - it broke when we tried to move it (like the side broke in half - BROKE).

This is true...though the one I posted is good quality (no cardboard). But if you get it from Target, only do so if you can buy in store. Their packaging is awful.
