My parents ordered Thomasville Bogart line Dining Room, Living Room set for their new house back in August/September. The dining room came in with tons of issues the fabric on the chairs were pinched and not done right. Sofa was not right either they ordered it without tufting it came with tufting. It was supposed to come in end of January so far nothing. So they are using the wrong furniture which is nice but they really want the right stuff to come in.
From some research I believe Thomasville has most of their furniture made in China then ships it to the US in crates which is why it takes so long. This is getting ridiculous there is not quality control and no one checking to make sure it is made to order.
I had a summer job at a place called Stacy furniture and the same sort of thing happened all the time. I was the receptionist so all these people would call in and yell at me! When it got so bad that someone made me cry, I had to quit. I wonder if alot of these furniture stores have these types of problems?
consumer reports did a review of the major furniture stores not too long ago. (i love that magazine- i'm a dork) it was mostly sofas that they reviewed, but it had similar issues to the ones you listed. i know it's not much help now, but check them out online before any more major purchases, you'd be surprised what they've covered. btw- Broyhill was ranked best purchase for the money, even in comparison to hoity shops like potterybarn!
