I have just about learned that if you see something at Gap or BR that you want, just wait a little while and it will go on sale. But, what about JCrew? Do they have sales as frequently? I really like this jacket, but I am not about to pay $198 for it. Thanks.
imo, j.crew sales aren't as reliable as gap/br. with gap/br things always go on sale and there are so many of them you're guaranteed to find your size. with j.crew, i've noticed that a lot of stuff sells out/gets backordered before it ever goes on sale. well it could just be the stuff i like.

I agree. I never wait for stuff to go onsale.

JCrew sales are definately not as frequent and Gap and Banana especially in the last year or so. They use to offer random discounts...20% off all cashmere or outerwear, but they havn't done that in a long time. I find the best stuff doesn't even make it to a sale...it's sold out long before. Most of their winter stuff came out in the early fall and it just got marked down after Christmas. Some of it wasn't even marked down that much...they have since done another markdown but it's all final sale...so you have to be sure about the item.
BTW...the jacket is very cute. I saw it in the store last week, but personally I think it's too pricey for what it is. If you really love it you should get it now, otherwise wait and see if it goes on sale.
yeah, j.crew doesn't have really good sales anymore -- online or in the stores. there is no rhyme or reason as to which stuff ends up on sale, and like someone said, it's hardly ever marked down that much
