Don't think I'm dumb...

I'm 19 and in college and yeah, I still bring my clothes home every weekend for my dad to wash. Usually, he'll wash my jeans and they'll shrink up a bit and it never really annoyed me.  But now I have found my better half, lux denim from urban and I would be crushed if they were to shrink.

So.....How do you wash jeans so they don't shrink.  I'm going to grow up and learn how to do  it, who wants to be my teacher?  Cold or warm water?  Hang to dry, lay flat to dry? Please explain! Thanks girls.

I don't think you're dumb at all- trust me, I've learned from trial and error. I even stupidly ironed a pair of Nike warm up pants when I was 16! (they were made from material that was meant to be wrinkled!) I always wash my jeans in cold water with like colors and dry them in the dryer. This is only because my jeans tend to stretch out after a couple wears (I generally wear them 2-3 times before I wash them) and when I put them in the drier they shrink back to size. If you are worried about shrinking your denim, I would suggest that you hang dry your jeans. Hope that helps!

I've never tried this product but since you're going to be washing your clothes in cold water, maybe you should try the new Tide Coldwater. It's meant for... cold water!

Yeah, well, here's a link for a free sample.

It's in the middle box where it says 'Get a free sample'

I wash my nicer jeans inside out on the regular wash cycle with cold water and regular detergent, then I hang dry them and iron flat when dry.  Now, when I am in a rush and had to use the dryer, I use the low heat setting and make sure to remove them promptly before they overdry.

I am 23 and I still don't wash my own clothes, so I do't think you are dumb!

I wash on cold inside out and hang dry upside down (gets rid of the wrinkles!)

I am OCD, so washing my jeans is a process:

Wash in cold water inside-out w/ liquid fabric softener (I HATE crinkly jeans)

Put in dryer (still inside-out) for 20 min

Hang dry (right-side-out) over night
