How bad would it be if you accepted #2 and then unaccepted it if 4 comes around?  Then if 4 doesn't pick you, you still have 2 as back-up.  And if they do, you just tell #2 that something better "unexpectedly" came up.  I know this sounds like a horrible thing to do, but please, companies will do what is in their best interest so you might as well do what's in yours.

i agree with aj. accept the one that's available now, and if the one you want comes up quit. though as i'm writing this, i kind of remember how the entertainment industry is kind of about connections (or so i've heard), so just be careful to not piss anyone off.

and not to a downer, but good things don't come to those that wait, they come to people who seek them out. keep calling.

Contact the person you interviewed with at #4 if it wasn't hr and just say how much you like them and how you want to work for them but you have another offer you need to respond to. (not in those words but you know what i'm saying).  Can you ask #2 for an extension? That might help also.

Lilykind, did you tell #4's HR that you have a job offer which requires your response by X date?  That usually tends to get HR on the ball.

Also, I think it may be a bad idea to accept #2 and then quit if #4 offers you a job too....especially b/c #2 is a larger agency.  My b/f is in "the business", and I find that there is always a lot of gossip going around.  The last thing you want to do is make a larger agency mad

ok...having been an assistant at a major talent agency (creative artists agency) when i was about your age (actually a little older, i was 21)...i gotta say...i believed the same thing at the time and maybe others will disagree but imo, this is nothing but a crock of sh*t-- just an urban legend to intimidate people to not quit.  the fact of the matter is that while I was at the agency, people quit/got fired on a daily basis.  and guess what?  they didn’t starve, they weren’t blacklisted, they got other jobs in the industry just fine.  and if an intern (or “summer camper” as they were commonly known) didn’t show up, no one even noticed (unless it was their day to scoop the ice cream), there certainly wasn’t any “big stink.”

anyway, what I’m trying to say is, if #4 ends up offering you the job, just take it.  no big stink is gonna happen at #2 because an intern flaked.  trust me, there will be someone else to fill the space @ #2 lickety-split.  just accept #2, since you don’t have any reason not to (at the moment) and if #4 comes a calling, then take it.  no reason to put the cart before the horse for now.  also, I agree w/ honey—good things happen to people who keep trying and don’t give up.  so keep on keeping on, and know that we’re right here rooting for ya.
