LA ladies, help! Need to entertain this weekend!
Permalink Closed

Hey girls, the guy i'm dating decided to come out this weekend unexpectedly (he lives in san diego) & since he planned last weekend, he wants me to plan this one.  He loves hockey (playing & spectating) so i think i'll take him ice skating at culver ice rink (too bad citywalk is already over).  I want more ideas tho... the rain is gonna hamper lots of stuff (i.e. 3rd st. promenade, any beach activities, etc.) but what else is kinda touristy/kinda datish... HELP?!?!?!

how weird--i am going to the culver ice rink this weekend for a b-day party (sunday night).  i haven't been there in years!

i was going to suggest that there's a new exhibit that looks cool at the OC Museum of Art, but i just realized it doesn't start until Feb. 6, and it's kind of a drive anyway.  the getty is kind of fun in the rain--they give you these huge khaki umbrellas to carry when walking between the different buildings--how funny that they don't want to mess up the aesthetic of the space by letting people tromp around with colorful/clashing umbrellas!  does he like cars? you could do the petersen automotive museum--i haven't been but have heard good things.

let me do some more thinking.  i'm sure there's something fun going on this weekend...

thanks so much bb, the getty is a good idea... as for cars, it's funny cuz i wanted to take him to the la auto show earlier this month cuz i went once & it was fun & he'd mentioned that he'd been to one b4.  when i brought it up he awkwardly told me that he's not really into cars, he was dating one of the models at the car show which i why he went!  anyways, thanks & keep it coming!

How about a show at the Troubadour?  I love seeing shows there b/c it is such an intimate atmosphere.  Tonight the French Kicks are playing, and their music is pretty cool...I am prob checking them out.  Is tonight too early for the date?  Tomorrow Tift Merritt is playing (and its a KCRW show - they are usually pretty good).  I am not too familiar with her, but I have heard good things.  Here is a review:
