What do you wish you could wear?
Permalink Closed

I'm always lusting after things that would be silly for me to buy because of my body or lifestyle. My chest can't fit into anything with "designated boob room" like empire seams, etc. I would love to wear heels to work every day, but it would be a ridiculous idea because I work in a super casual office and also must walk between two buildings across rocky gravel several times a day (difficult to navigate in heels, I've tried)

What do you wish you could wear, but can't because something out of your control stops you?

I can't wear a lot of strappy sandals because I have a wide toe box and they just look awful on me. It makes me sad. I also have a really hard time with knee high boots because my calves are large and the ones I like the most never fit right - they'll be super tight at the top and then really saggy at the ankle.

I also have a hard time with pant length.  petite sizes are usually okay for flats, but not with heels, and then lots of times regular lengths are too long, even with 3" heels.  I know this is something that can be easily fixed but it's huge PITA.

Great thread. I wish I could wear styles that look good on skinny girls - usually things that are kind've flowy and untailored. I'm an hourglass shape, so if I don't wear things that are nipped in the right places, I end up just looking chubby. I also wish I could wear delicate rings, but I think I have 'man hands' so I don't.

skinny jeans/ pants, I have hips and a bubble butt so it just doesn't look right.

Sunglasses even when i have on contacts I can't get used to it being dim wherever I go, but I think they are so cute on others.

I'm with MissMabel - I wish I could wear skinny girl clothes (loose, flowing, shapeless), but I look enormously chubby if I do.

Tall boots that aren't made for people with large calves.

Maxi dresses - I'm too short and stocky to pull it off

Button down shirts - My boobs are too big in comparison to my waist to ever find anything that fits right.

Wide leg trousers - My legs are so short that they end up looking like to tree stumps when I wear wide leg pants.

I wish I could wear sleeveless tops but my arms are ridiculously fat and gross and I just end up feeling self-conscious the entire time.

I also wish I had more reasons to get dressed up...but I live in California and it's pretty casual here, so even when I go to nice restaurants or parties, most people aren't super dressed up.

Definitely heels. I love the extra height and I love the way they look, but I end up limping after five minutes of wearing.

It's funny that we all want what we can't have.  I wish for more curves.  I want more cleavage for sweetheart necklines on strapless dresses, and a bigger bootie so certain pants would look better.
I am not completely curveless, but sometimes wish I had a figure similar to Scarlett Johansson (who wouldn't right?).  She is so sexy & feminine to me.

Light-colored shoes. I think my feet are big (size 9) and anything other than dark colors makes them look bigger.

Fedoras and newsboy caps. I only wear hats that have a completely symmetrical brim all around (cloches, some bowlers), or no brim at all (berets). Anything with a bill in front or anything elongated in any way makes my nose jump off my face and smack passers-by.

-i wish i could dress up more often, but no one around here does, and i look wierd if i do.
-i wish i could wear hats also, but they look HORRID on me.
-i wish i had peirced ears! i tried it once and they got infected so that was the end of that.

Nice shoes.  There is literally no point w/my lifestyle and walking 4 + miles each and every day in NYC.  I wear Vans or flip flops or boots in the winter- and that's it.

I have extremely athletic and large calves, so boot shopping is difficult for me. It severly limits the ones I can choose from.

I am also big boobed, which limits what I can wear on top, especially at work. Button downs are out (button gapping), wrap tops are out (boobs fit, but is too low cut for work).

Skinny jeans look crazy on me too. They aren't for the hourglass shaped ladies!

Hats. My face is too round.

For me:

BOOTS. I also have some nice sized calfs, and IF there's NOT enough stretch in them, I can't wear/buy them.

Sandals w/STRAPS! They literally KILL my feet (wide at the bottom). I see cute strappy sandals ALL THE TIME, but have to pass on them.

FLATS - I see cute ones, but w/my sz. 9.5 foot, they JUST DON'T LOOK RIGHT, they look more like BOATS on my feet. :(

I don't think I have the head (shape) for HATS, hence me only owning maybe two? LOL

Wrap dresses- The supposed dress that looks great on everyone does not work on my shape at all.

Camis that fit well can be hard to find.  Straps are often too big.

I'm with MissMabel and Gingembre1 - skinny girls styles just don't work, mainly because I have hips and nothing seems to look right...
Ooh and I would looove to wear heels more but I'm so tall, I worry it looks too much. Also have the flats making my feet huge problem too.

I wish I could wear cute summer tops (even the kind with extra fabric for built-in-support) without a bra.  I could pull this off without looking suggestive or floppy before having children, but for obvious reasons, now I look more like some commune hippie if I try to go braless!

I would also like to look good in long summer dresses, but instead I look like I am drowning in them.

Strapless dresses or anything backless! There is no way I can go braless and I HATE strapless bras with a passion.

-my boobs are too big for button downs
-my shoulders are too broad for jackets, i look like a NFL player
-shoes with ankle straps, i broke my ankle about 4 years ago and it still swells, so at times i have 1 cankle
-not so much "i wish i could wear" but i wish i could embrace my kim kardashian butt.  it seriously looks just like hers.  it looks like she loves her butt, but i tend to disguise or hide it.

Ditto on CA lifestyle - I find I make up excuses to dress up and I'll just be overdressed - but still, to live in a place like NY where people do it all the time would be fun!

Heels-  I've tried and they are too uncomfortable or my heel slips out of everything.

Yellow- I like the really pretty shades but it doesn't work with my coloring.

Shorts- I am just too pale.
