Wow! So everyone's buying bottled water? When will it be back to normal? That's kind of scary...

oh! just thought of the animals, what if they drink it, will they get sick?

Halleybird, I thought they said on the new this morning that it was just the city of Phoenix. Do you work in the city? I thought you mentioned before that you worked in Glendale. I listened to the news and read that article and I'm pretty sure we're still safe out here in Litchfield Park. Pretty nuts, though, huh? I wonder if we share the same water (Surprise and LP).

By Tuesday afternoon, the turbidity in the city's water supply had again dropped below federal standards, Fairbanks confirmed. The first positive readings at the Val Vista Water Treatment Plant came right around noon, and showed that water supply was registering 0.6 particles.

"We are now meeting all federal water standards," Fairbanks said.

Phoenix, however, is still encouraging residents to boil water until noon Wednesday, so city officials can continue conducting tests and monitoring the system for any changes. The measure is precautionary, officials said.

City officials say that the water, even when it exceeded federal limits for particles, is not dangerous - and that they are merely recommending it be boiled for precautionary reasons. Tests have turned up no bacteria or microbes or anything else that could be considered dangerous to residents.

"The water is not poisonous, and frankly, it's very unlikely that anyone would get sick," said Fairbanks, adding that he had had two big glasses of tap water this morning and was "not concerned for my health."

That's really scary, we had to do that here in NJ when we had excessive rains and flooding from the Delaware River. The filtration system couldn't handle it.

I had a stop over at the Phoenix airport on Wednesday. The water warning made things a little bit crazy in the airport. Couldn't even get my diet coke at the BK--argh! Hope everything is back to normal now for all the residents (and hassled airport employees!).

A friend of mine went through a fast food drive-thru downtown that day and they only beverage they could offer her with her value meal was milk! Absolutly no ice or beverages containing tap water could be served in the city.
